This thread brings up for me a matter that is something of a struggle for me.
So I'd like to see what others here have done in similar situations
My real passion throughout my life have been surfing and then windsurfing. With the real focus being big wave surfing.
Which I was able to persue well into my 60s. Then worn out shoulder and neck have taken me out of those activities for the past five years. The conditioning required to deal with the intense impacts, and to recover from bad wipeouts became hard to maintain. Plus the wear and tear of sailing at high speed in rough conditions left me sore for days. This has been a difficult transition for me. I miss the stoke and comradery of those times.
I still enjoy smooth surface biking, hiking, can do some lap swimming for conditioning, but where is the stoke in those?
So, anyone else had to move on from really exciting demanding sports?
How did you do it, did you find replacement activities?
I have found that track days with my Porsche are a big hoot, but I don't have the budget to do much of that.
Plus not much conditioning comes from that activity.
I do appreciate any input from other adrenaline junkies that have made it thru this sort of change.
Cheers Richard
