What do you smell?

73-74 Buy it now for $1900

The below is a link to a one day sale on e-bay - seller wanted everyone prequalified to bid....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...485261762&rd=1

The Link (original e-bay listing) specifically says item is located in the "United States"......

This is the message I received when I attempted to pre-register....

"Hello,
I received your email regarding my trailer.
First you have to know bidding is restricted since I am carefully with
my auction, so none will press the button until I have the assurance
that he will buy it.
The trailer is in perfect condition, with no scratches on it, no damage.
Shipping will be done via Cargo Ship and will take no more then 10 days.
The trailer will arrive at the nearest harbour and you will have to pick
it up from there.
All the manuals and the original documents are in English. It is made
for US market and has US specs.
The buyer will receive this along with all papers and receipts that he
needs to register it in his name.
Please REPLY WITH YOUR NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS IN YOUR NEXT EMAIL.
I will wait for your email to let me know if you are interested in
knowing more details about the purchase.
Thanks!"

What a bunch of crap!!!

I hope no one gets taken......

I saw that one this morning and figured there was something very fishy about it. Just the fact that they give no details about the rig, no location, hardly any pictures, have a year 'range' (what is it a 73 or 74, wouldn't you KNOW?) and only letting prequalified bidders bid. That and the fact that the buy it now is rediculously low. Smells like another Nigerian scam to me.

Here's another way they've been scamming businesses in the US.
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/cnp.asp

I'll bet this auction is just another new method.

I like his handle "Try2Find"....me

This is their first "Seller" auction. All his other feedback is from "Seller Feedback" were they were the buyer. Zero 0 sales before under this handle on eBay. The house must be full of goblets and wine glasses. Interesting collection hobby.

Still, it might be worth pursuing. I'd give him his Buy now price.

I 'was' the original owner?

What? he doesn't own it anymore???

I think it's funny that there hasn't been a single bid...

What a crock.

Same note

I got the same reply. I asked where he was located, or the trailer, and no mention to where the trailer was or was coming from....A SCAM!

Talking scary...

I just purchased a bike off Ebay, haven't received it yet from Alabama but I believe feedback is everything. My guy had over 100 buyer positve responses on all high ticket items....also bought another bike in the past for about $3000...of course again all positive buyer experiences. If this person is not telling you were it is and you can't check it out...beware.....Go with your gut on this one.

The broken english is a big red flag to me. That and the fact that he is not actually answering anyone's questions, just sending out a form letter requesting more info. No one CAN bid on it until they get past him, and I suspect most people who get that kind of response run in the other direction.

Well, that's way funnier than anything I could have thought of to do to them...

I just took a peek at the link, it says
" Starting bid: US $100.00 Ended: Jul-22-04 19:22:07 PDTStart time:Jul-21-04 19:22:07 PDTHistory:0 bids Price:US $1,900.00" and bidding has ended for this item. eBay closed the door on this guy?

No, when I looked at it this morning, it only had 9 hours to go. I think it just ran out.
