What did you buy on Black Friday?

Hi, what did you buy on Black Friday? did you find any really great deals that you couldn't pass up? Did anyone buy something for their Airstream on Black Friday? What were these bargains and who had them on sale? I, personally, always had to work on this day and never got to go; But now that I'm retired, I can and do go. I never buy anything [we have too much stuff now] We walk the Malls for exercise and have lunch there most of the time, but this Friday it was too crowded, so we went home for lunch. [They didn't get one single dime out of us this year] I want to buy a new bed for Boo-Boo, but I can't find anything that he would like.

I ordered a tankless water heater

I bought a portable tankless water heater on Black Friday for the 1959 Pacer because it doesn't have a inside shower. I thought it was a fabulous find and then my dearest pointed out how funny I was going to look outside showering with all of the other people around. Hmm..there must be a way to solve this dilemma besides joining a nudist camping colony.

Still...I think I got a great Black Friday deal. I hope it is a good deal anyway and that I don't end up being jailed for indecent exposure when we are out camping.

You might be tempted by a portable shower enclosure similar to the one offered by Cabela's. It is shown in the photo below:

Three years ago, I attended a Vintage RV Rally in Northern Illinois, and several of the participants had these portable shower enclosures as well as a second similar enclosure for their portable toilets. My Overlander was one of only a handful of coaches in attendance with a full bathroom as most of the participants had either "canned hams" or "teardrops". We were dry camped in the field behind an RV dealership so we had to make do with facilities available in our coaches. I spoke with a couple of the owners, and learned that they found the portable shower enclosures particularly useful.

Good luck with your projects!

What did you buy on Black Friday?

I would have liked to avoid the Black Friday shopping traffic completely, but had to make a run to town for supplies for a number of projects underway. My shopping list consisted of two tubes of caulk/sealant for the windows on the conversion van, two quarts of Mobil 1 oil, four boxes of rat & mouse bait, and hair mousse. I think that the cashier was perplexed as to why I was shopping for such items during all of the Christmas shopping hubub . . . .

Really nothing. A sewing machine for our grandaughter. Costco - online. Wish we had a big list for our AS, but we have spent about 3 years getting all we needed before we retired. To which I might add is - our retirement, that is - is great.
Happy Holidays to all.

Kevin,

Yeah, It was great...

When I parked there was a fellow sitting in the car next to me....

When I returned in 10min he looked at me smiled and just shrugged...

Been there done that.

I bought an Atwood WH pressure release valve wrench for the Airstream and some antiques for the girls. Stayed away from the "normal" stores.

Also "bought" a little peace of mind by taking a short hiking trip - hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving....

I bought an Airstream. I've been a member of the Forums since 2007, have never posted a message but have been reading and dreaming since then. Our timeline to buy the Airstream and start preparing to full time was when by youngest daughter graduated high school. Well, she's a senior now. We went to JD Sanders in Gaineville FL and closed the deal on a 2008 Safari 25. Black Friday was just a coincidence but I saw the tread and felt it was the right place to start.

Black Friday

I bought a Thetford Smart Tote portable waste water container from Camping World. It was just a coincidence though that it was purchased on Black Friday.

Went to WalMart and bought some grapes, plums and a small watermelon. Didn't have to use any pepper spray to get them. And no line at the checkout. Nice to be a small town.

An Avrika 3 place bike rack. REALLY didn't want to spend that kind of jack, but there's nothing else out there to fit my needs.

We / my wife bought a universal repair kit for the kids toilet at Menards. Then had to return it for the right $1.49 seal. Of course 1 little project TWO TRIPS to Menards! (I hate that)

My sentiments exactly. Jostling, standing in line, possibly getting pepper sprayed to save 20 bucks on some toy I didn't need to begin with is not my idea of something enjoyable to do.
Fortunately, we spend our winters in a small town in Mexico where there are no toys to buy. My only purchase on Black Friday was a kilo of fresh harina tortillas made one by one by an old lady over a mesquite fire.

What did I buy on Black Friday?

Absolutely nothing, nada, zip. Did not leave the house, would not have been part of that madhouse for nothin'!

Did go out early yesterday morning, for a quick trip into Walmart and to use some of my Bed, Bath & Beyond 20% coupons (they never expire, ya know) for good deals on a few items. BTW, does everyone know BB&B carries a silicone steamer??!! Cute, flexible, lightweight, has a little handle to pull it out and can be used when boondocking for those fresh veggies from the farmers markets!! What a find!! And, it's red!

Sleekstor VeggiSteam Vegetable Steamer - Bed Bath & Beyond

Got out, got in and got home before the maddening crowd was out and about.

Thanks for that info Kevin,
I will take a look at that item as it gets closer to spring. I am sure the other campers would appreciate not having to see us shower over by the tree. They are thanking you right now .
