Haven't actually read this one, but the best book I've ever listened to while on a trip is "The Art of Racing in the Rain," by Garth Stein.

Oh McDave. I read that book several years ago. If you love dogs it is simply a MUST to read. Highly recommended!

Book club last month- "Casanova: The World of a Seductive Genius"- slow to get into, but picks up and gives insight into an interesting man and the nature of love

For March, I started "News of the World" by Paulette Jiles- only 50 pgs. into it, but the story of delivering a 10 year old girl who was kidnapped by the Kiowa Indians back to her adoptive parents (from Wichita Falls to San Antonio). Great so far.

For pure enjoyment & my own edification, I'm reading "Gulp" by Mary Roach- a study of the alimentary canal- from saliva to the stinky slinky Gotta love it- I'm a nurse

Trying to get through the Complete Autobiography of Mark Twain Volume 1.

The intro is a book. We'll see how the meat goes. 700+ pages should fill a lot of free time. Pat

Doing another Kathy Reichs mystery right now. These are the mysteries that the TV series Bones is based on. And I must say loosely. The novels are very different and far, far better.

Before this one, I took a short break and did a J. Kellerman that I hadn't read before. Not too bad.

I do all of my reading as Kindle ebooks, all from the public library. Maria, by contrast, does audiobooks on her Kindle Fire, also all from the public library.

I'm reading famous "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell Amaing book, I totally adore how she describes the tradition and life on South and also the war and all that changes which it brought. However among characters I like only Rhett Butler, he's not such a good person in general but really a strong and cool man in many ways An Scarlett... Well her love story seems like an unhealthy obsession for me

What are you reading?

Sadly, currently not indulging in any literary works. But our 16 year old son is reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Close but no cigar?

What are you reading?

I recently finished “The Right Side” by Spencer Quinn. I think it's the best book he's ever written. He wrote the enormously popular Chet and Bernie series about a private detective and his dog. He and Donna Ball seem to have the edge on dog mystery books, and I’ve read everything they've written, just for entertainment, since I don't watch TV. We were all disappointed when Spencer ended his Chet and Bernie series, and frankly, he could have made a lot more money if he'd just continued writing them. Which meant that when he climbed to the next rung of the ladder and wrote “The Right Side,” he was taking quite a risk. It would have been the same if Erle Stanley Gardner had decided he was tired of Perry Mason and had decided to write something like “The Grapes of Wrath” instead. I'm sure a lot of people have decided to write something like “The Grapes of Wrath” and have ended up making their living driving trucks, but I think Spencer has it in him. “The Right Side” isn't quite “The Grapes of Wrath” but it is headed in that direction. It is as entertaining as Chet and Bernie, but written at a deeper level. It is interesting that he seems to either get 5 stars or 1 star on this one. The 1 star ratings are from people who wish he had just continued writing Chet and Bernie stories.

Dinner at the Center of the Earth by Nathan Englander- couldn't put it down. It's a spy novel set in the Arab-Israeli conflict; a quick read with a unique format that had me from the get-go.

I'm about a third of the way into The Dark Net by Benjamin Percy and love it. A 21st century horror story that has me in its grips...
