I must be in heaven. We're at the Hilton near ALCOA, Tennessee...
Just being in Tennessee is enough. I was born & raised there; God's country.
Oops, didn't mean to run off on a tangent. I believe you're in East TN. Try & make it up to the Cumberland Plateau in middle TN if your plans allow. Beautiful countryside, and one can see for miles.
Yesterday was spent doing heavy duty gardening (tearing up a bed and infilling as much as fill dirt allowed), then went to see the broadcast of Prairie Home Companion (very cool).
Spent the day working on the trailer and listening to Roaring Thunder. Since we are down the street from the area's Harley dealership--and next to the highway to DC (rt. 66), our exit is a prime meeting place, something locals jokingly call "Sturgis East" (well, ok, there's little resemblance here to South Dakota, but folks here do get a kick out of the really wild leather setups that come into town). The loud rattle of engines kind of makes me think of the helicopters that were so much a part of the war in Vietnam and it really left me thinking today about the folk who fought in our wars.
It's been a good day--and to all of the veterans on line here--thank you!
Mary

Just back from a week at San Elijo State Beach so this weekend we're home and getting caught up and ready for the big trip to Oregon next month. This is our last beach trip till September, when the tourists go back home and the kids are back in school and the beach is again a peaceful place to camp...sort of! Looking forward to summer camping in Mammoth Lakes Ca and Oregon, which begins in three weeks....yipee!
As Porky says, Life is good, especially life with an Airstream!
Making reservations for next months long long adventure. It is a partial plan to get us to the most distant point where we then will meander without a schedule until we bump into our house.
Jim on the bunkbeds, we found pictures of one on vintage vacations. Vintage-vacations.com. Also there was an old link on this forum under 1971 sovereign. I had to go back over twelve months to view the link. Hope this helps. Thanks canoe stream for offering help on posting pictures. I am saving up for the digital camera that goes with my lens. With all the AS projects it might be a while. I guess I can take the pictures the old fashion way and scan them in.

Jim's on the Cape repairing things after the long snowy NE winter. I tried to explain how hot it was here, he said we wished he had his long underwear.
I took in Sasquatchfest at the Gorge with some friends. Great bands, great scenery, great people watching.
