I haven't seen mention of the computer that you are using. Is it an Apple or a Windows-based PC? There is quite a difference.

Web Sites:

I maintain three sites now and have had more. It is time consuming and needs a lot of cooperation from club members. I use the "Dreamweaver Suite" from Macromedia. It is expensive and I bought it for my other sites and donate the use to the club. It does a nice job. I also use "Gimp" for manufacturing graphics. Gimp is a free graphics program and you can download it by doing a search for gimp. It takes a little while to learn, but then you can do nice things with it.

I used to design some programs for the govt. and learned right away that you can't run these things by committee. One person needs to manage the web site. You can have a committee inputing data to the manager, but you can't have a lot of people building the site. You can have a bulliten board that all can share though.

My biggest problem is getting the data. Many of the Officers of the WBCCI are barely computer literate. Some don't even have e-mail addresses. I run one site for Region 7 and there are several clubs that I need to contact for info and often it takes a long time to get feedback. Then sometimes it doesn't match up with data I already have. Frustrating.

I have been doing this for several years now. Actually, I think about seven years. I have the same problems every year as new Officers come in each year and the same old problems surface. If you choose to do this, just be patient and don't let it get to you. It can be a chore, but in the end the folks appreciate it.

If I can help, PM me.

There is no "I" in the word "team," but there are four in "Platitude Quoting Idiot!"
