Volunteer Camp Host for June

We are packing Chummy up for a month of camping in our favorite state park I had applied to be the volunteer camp host in a state park close by Milwaukee. This is a wonderful park with a small campground only 35 minutes North of our home. The facilities are wonderful, great hiking trails, and swimming. I get to spend the month greeting and talking to the fellow campers. Informing them of the park and helping them out with what I am able to do. We are close enough to my wife's work that she can drive back and forth and spend the majority of the time out in the park with me. This will be the perfect month.
Anyone travelling through Wisconsin and looking for a great place to stay check us out. We will love to have some fellow Airstreamers.

Chaplain,

That would be great, but we won't be up in that area until we go to Oshkosh in July. Have a great time. Besides, I'm always a little leery of places that have bugs! Being in the dry mountains and deserts of the west has reduced our resistance...

Stephanie, we have marked the site for Workamper.com which gives LOTS of info about working in the rv arena. Also, just ask at any park you go to, and the resident hosts will give you information as well. I think you can find info also at sites for state and federal parks as well. This is something I want us to do whenever Max finally retires and has the freedom that I have now. Chummy seems to have a great month ahead of him ~G

Contact your state DNR or look up their web page and see if they have volunteer info on it. The Good Sam Club also has an application which they send to regions you specify and then you get a list of available openings. We have met people who travel full time hosting at parks throughout the United States. This will be my first experience and then in October I will be hosting at another Wisconsin State park, Wyalusing, which is along the Mississippi River. This was a real catch for me since is is a premier park and during the fall color season it is very popular. However, at the end of the month it does get cold there and they wanted someone who could camp out if it freezes and Chummy does well in the winter.
