Hi, I ship RV's on a regular basis to international destinations. The border folks are notified of my entry 48 hrs in advance. The units that have the cert. of Origin with them are stamped. They also carry a certification of Canadian compliance for electrical, gas, etc... It's a really easy process for me as long as I have all of the paperwork in order. Shipping plated units (units owned by an individual) are easier to move... It is the same when I bring to ports for UK or European shipping.
Best...

I recently purchased a sprinter based RV from a Canadian manufacturer through a US dealer. When I started the procedure, we got a Canadian price list by mistake. The difference was considerably higher after comparing the US prices. Perhaps this only relates to motorized RV's, but my dealer said that Canadians looking to buy a new unit usually don't save much if any by purchasing a unit in the US.

Buy new in the US ( if you live near the border)

If you don't have a trade you can save up to 10 grand and more. We bought our 23 FB in Covington, Washington last year and saved $$$$. However, when it came to trading up to our 27FB, the Canadian tax laws changed and we would not get credit for our trade purchased in the states and so would have to pay the tax on the full amount, making the savings about 1/2. You would also have to consider that the dealer in Canada is not going out of his way to service your warranty, and we found that we where going back to Covington for warranty service.
All and all I would have bought again in the US if it wasn't for the Canadian tax laws, and you know who lobbied to change the laws here.
Airstream Adventures Northwest (Seattle), were very good to deal with .

Apparently a RV dealer in Penticton is now carrying Airstreams: RV Dealer in Penticton BC | Airstream, Newmar, King Aire & Dutch Star RV's | New New 2013 & 2014 & Used | Midtown RV LTD.

We bought ours at Can-Am in London, Ontario, and since moving to BC we have had routine service appointments at the Airstream dealer in Spokane. Both were easy to deal with.

I'd be surprised if an Airstream dealer in Washington or Oregon couldn't help Canadians with the paper work to get their AS back across the border. A trailer is a lot easier and cheaper to get through customs than a motor home like an Interstate, however. Having the engine puts it in a different category. Also, Canadian customs has information on-line about importing stuff that should be helpful.
