I would stay farther north.

They know what to do with heavy rains in New Orleans, but seriously the streets fill with water and serious storms need to just be sat out somewhere dry...some do that in the bars in the Quarter, at least one of which I believe never closed during Katrina.

Wow. The debris from the last storm is still on the streets here in Gainesville,in parts of town.. Still areas flooded. US 441 south of town is down to one lane each way over Paines prairie because of high water. Can't wait for another storm.

Still too early to be tell where this storm is going. The track changes hourly. Latest guess has it going more easterly.
Certainly keeping an eye out. This time of year the trailer and Jeep are kept ready ready to go and I can be on the road in a couple of hours if necessary.

We'll be watching it too. We have an appointment at JD Sanders for Monday.

These two maps will update each time they open up here. Best to avoid the projected path especially for the winds IMO.

If this area gets a real hit from Nate, with recovery cleanup taking time, maybe this is Nature's Way of tellin' you to visit New Orleans another time?

Not sure what your timetable is for getting to California, but heading WSW soon might be a good plan IMO.

Safe travels . . .

Peter

PS -- Missed the edit time window.

Spirit's "Nature's Way" is on the OTRA II music thread, so no need to mess with the YouTube link just posted.

Yup. Sure did. Good for Florida, not great for New Orleans!

Yep, I agree, Peter. I was gonna try to take the gulf coast west and then head to California through Texas but now I think I'm gonna stay a lil more north and heed nature's advice!

Looks like it's gonna hit as a cat 1 but still no fun.

Back west now and heading directly for my area. I trashed my back yesterday and not feeling much better today so really not in the mood to pack and hook up a trailer. If it becomes necessary to evacuate I will do what I have to do. Even if that means leaving without the trailer. But even driving the way I feel now would be very uncomfortable. That certainly would not be my first choice.
