Angry Tree hits Camper

We had a big wind storm here on Monday night and I went out yesterday morning to find that a tree had fallen on our 1965 Avion truck camper. I bought it about 2 years ago to fix up as a retirement project (thinking ahead - I'm 8 years from retirement) and hadn't even had a chance to work on it yet. I guess that's a good thing. Now I'm waiting to hear back from the insurance company and looking for another one. I'm not sure if this can be fixed or not. Before this, the skin was in almost perfect condition. The interior skin is damaged as well and at least one rib is bent. One branch went straight through leaving a hole about 2" in diameter. There doesn't seem to be damage to the end cap.

What a shame- it looks very clean otherwise.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about this. I really like those Avion campers. Hopefully your insurance company will have some good news for you soon.

Grant,

Sorry to see this happen. Falling debris, or hail are one of the many fears we face as a vintage unit owners. Glad no one was hurt. Looking at the pictures I would guess you could repair the damage, especially since the end cap does not appear to have been hurt.

Keep us posted,

Kevin

That damage can be fixed good as new.

The key to that is finding a dealer than is an expert in sheetmetal work, that also deals with "anodized metal."

We do that type work on a routine basis, and have for over 20 years.
