Hi, doorgunner; This is the first year of the Galaxie, 1959. The most prominent change is the Thunderbird roof line. There were several other small changes making the Fairlane 500 into the Fairlane 500 Galaxie.

Nice car Bob.

My question is: How do you put air in the centre wheel/tire of that dolly? They might have been better to equip that unit with "noflat" wheel assemblies?

One is supposed to do a pretrip on all that equipment before use right?

Dave

Hi, Dave; The outside wheels have their own valve stems. The second tire in on each side has a valve stem extension going through the wheel of the outside tires. And the third wheel in has a really long valve stem extension that goes through two wheels. [left side has two valve stems and the right has three]

He did what? Already.

Hi, OK, OK, I had to make some changes already. [modifications] I studied hard and decided that this was the best unit for me and my trailer. But there were a few things bothering me. First off, there were three wire looms to connect while using this machine. A 100 foot A-C cord for the electric motor. Then an umbilical cord for the trailer brakes. And finally a cord with two alligator clamps for connecting to the trailer's battery/ies. [that I can't get to] To me, this could cause problems while watching where I'm going and watching to see that these wires don't get caught on something while moving my trailer. Not to mention the brake controller switch felt weak and mushy. I bought a heavy duty toggle switch. I bought a new trailer connector. The one that came with It was OK but only had two screws for wire connections. I bought a real seven wire RV loom to replace the five wire loom with tiny wires and one incorrect wire color. I wired it up so my brake lights will come on whenever the brakes are applied. I wired it up so the battery power comes through the trailer connector instead of separately. And I used the third toggle switch to turn on the trailer's running lights. [Why? I don't know; Just because I could, I guess]

(1.) Stuff that I removed, but repurposed the toggle switch.

(2.) New heavy duty toggle switch installed.

(3.) New connector and new seven wire loom.

(4.) All wired up and ready to be tested, some day. [need my trailer to test] The third toggle switch is connected and in the box, but no hole was drilled for it yet.

Hi, today I finished my modifications. I drilled a hole on the side of the control box and mounted the third switch. Wrapped some wires together and stuffed them back into the box. From the driver's seat, [no seat] the switch to my right, is the forward / neutral / reverse switch. The switch on the left is for the trailer brakes and brake lights. The switch on the left side is for the running lights. Since the actual operating switches are on top, I put the un-important running light switch on the side.

Looking good and sounds simple enough for even me to operate.

I am waiting on your field tests.

So you're saying that all five tires are connected on the same shaft? It seems like that would create a lot of friction from one side to the other on a turn as they are all tied together.

Hi, Joe; Yes, all five tires/wheels are connected. This could make it harder to turn. [I will find out] But with five tires wide, it should be harder to tip over than lets say two tires. Also the handle is much larger and longer than most, if not all, other trailer dollies. [more leverage for handling]

Robert, I am glad you posted this thread, it got me looking at this closer as my current residence that I rent is a real pain to back the trailers (35 ft AS & 30 ft enclosed cargo) into from a narrow road. I also loose the use of 40 ft of my drive because I have to back into the drive and place the trailer on the left side so the door opens onto the drive, if I put it over on the right side of the drive the door opens into grass that is on an incline.
I had been trying to figure out how to get the trailers in so the tongue is to the house leaving the doors to open on the pavement and still leaving 1/2 of my drive for use. Although I believe the power mover you purchased would be too hard on my back to pull it around for turning, thus I am looking at the other one parkit 360 transformer as it has a remote and turns without assistance. This could also be loaded in the back of my truck with my mini crane and used in other places such as some of the campgrounds I have been in that have a tight fit. Although I am not real big on the pricetag which is twice what you paid, but to save my back and have something that the wife could use if necessary is a good offset. Will be waiting to see what you post on yours before I go any further.

LilNomad here..saw this in my trailer life magazine last nite. was wondering is the dolly for home use only? does anyone travel with one and can it be used to back in the trailer at campgrounds vs a front hitch? I know thats cheating hehe but just wondering. Im working on my backing skills. Its not really my skill level its all the stupid trees, rocks and other stuff thats not supposed to be there!
Thanks
