This guy owns a Chevy and the power steering goes wacky, or so he claims, and drives into a jewelry store…

This guy owns a Ford and he says the smoke from the cruise control fire obscured his vision and he drove in to the jewelry store…

Lightbulb FJ Cruiser Owners...

Fellow FJ Cruiser Owners...

I finally found the new-style frameless wipers for the FJ Cruiser. Most aftermarket brands don't make a 14" in the new style that fits the center and right positions. The 'Trico NeoForm Beam Blade' is the ONLY one that comes in the 14" as well as 16" for the driver side. Came with removal and replacement instructions - easy install. They work great and look awesome. Got them online.

Hope this helps others...

2Air,

I agree with you. For those that want a Toyota this is the perfect time to purchase one. Maybe in two or three months there will be a plug and play drive by wire replacement recall, big deal. Less than an hour at the dealers. This whole thing has been blown so much out of proportion.

MAYBE.....in two or three months...we better hope sooner than that.

I'm no Toyoda fan, but too many American's now depend on the Corporation.
We all should be very concerned.

Pretty scary

Runaway Prius driver: Brakes were 'almost burned' - Yahoo! Finance

And again;

Police probe Toyota Prius crash in NYC | turnto10.com

Now that there is a cause attributed to these crashes, it appears to have raised awareness. How many previous Toyota crashed can be attributed to the accelaration problem?
Time will tell.
Estimates are this will cost the company $5B to settle, at this point in time. As this problem continues to grow, and more accidents (both current and legacy) are attributed to this issue...what will be the final result?

Will Toyota survive?

Will they get bailed out by Tokyo?

A co-worker actualy bought a new Toyota van this week...they practically
gave him the car the incentives were so extensive.

This is is certainly an interesting study in business, and politics...

BillTex,

About 25,000 people die each year on highways from impaired or drunk drivers. Less than a dozen from Toyota mechanical issues. I am not a Toyota owner so this is not coming from "Toyota's are the best" passion, but the problem is WAY overblown out of proportion. Of course, as you infer, if you are one of the real unlucky ones that happen to be driving a problem car, then for that instant it is a genuine problem.

Am I missing something in this runaway Toyota thing? Can the car not be placed in neutral when this uncontrolled acceleration thing occurs?

I just head an interview from the guy whos prius ran away to 90mph, he said he didt put in in neutral because he was affraid it would go into reverse. Are you kidding me, what do you have to loose if your car is out of control! Is a new tranny worth you life?

Brian, I've been wondering the same thing. I was at the Toyota dealer yesterday and we all couldn't understand why people don't put it in neutral and we all agreed they panic and can't remember to shift gears or turn off the engine. The 911 tape of the Prius in Cal. going 90+ mph indicates the driver didn't put it in N because he had his hands full trying to control the car. Your hands can lock onto the wheel in such a situation out of fear even though you know you should try to pry on off the wheel.

I was at the dealer because I couldn't find after market windshield wipers for my Tundra. So I had to buy them there—$60! When I complained, they knocked $7 off the price.
