Toteable Conveyance?

Has anyone had any experience with the Segway?

We were at festival with loads of RVs last summer and someone was riding around the grounds on a Segway. They were carrying a portable O2 tank. It looked like loads of fun and a really good substitute for the small scooters and carts I often see at large campgrounds.

Never even seen one in person. Haven't even heard about them since they talked about postal carriers using them to do their routes. I guess that means they are for sale to the general public now?

Yes they are for sale www.segway.com and look like they would be great at parks. The one I saw was being used on gravel and uneven ground. seems like they would fit into a tow vehicle or even inside a trailer really nicely.

I think that Sam's Club is also selling them now. I saw one in their Business Member flyer.

Whoa, $4000! That's more than my last car cost (or the one before that!). But I guess if you're looking for something you can fit in the tow vehicle, it would fit the bill.

Last I heard NettiePDX was going to take a Vespa along on her adventures. Very stylish!

I took one for a test ride last year. REALLY NEAT! I think it was at the Car Show. I was looking for a new tow vehicle. I don't think the Segway will take a class IV hitch, though. HaHa.

Last year at the Seattle Boat Show I rode a demo Segway a dealer had. It was a lot of fun but I think they run about $5,000. I do not know how well they would do on gravel or a rough non-pave surface.
