Cloud covered.

Turned the lights on in the trailer so my Jenni wouldn't get too spooked. She was NOT impressed! She thinks it shouldn't get dark until it's suppertime. Heavy clouds, so all we had was dark, cool, and just plain freaky feeling.

My wife was really earnest to see it, so we put out the zero-gravity chairs and donned a couple of welding-helmets.... looking really foolish out in the front yard.

The DOG..., however,.... was truly THRILLED that we'd lay out in the yard with her for so long. (She didn't seem to find the eclipse particularly interesting, tho'.)

I felt the same way....

My wife and I were parked off Hwy 26, just outside Prairie City, Oregon. Not a cloud in the sky. I wish the eclipse wasn't over so quickly. I believe we had about two minutes...it felt like seconds.

Unifreck's eclipse photo

Some of the Wyoming Rock Dockers rendezvoused at my place, Mt. Angel, Oregon.

Here's a photo Unifreck took:

We all hope you were eclipsed, too!!

Great shot of the "Diamond ring" phase...thanks for sharing it. We only had 70% or so in SoCal desert

We drove six hours south to cross into the path of totality. The return on that investment was well worth it. The two minutes and some seconds passed much too quickly. It was kinda like being in high school science class and church at the same time. However the ten hour drive home was a little more than we had bargained for.

It's difficult to imagine that all jaws did not drop. I still get chills thinking about the total solar eclipse. It was a very emotional, felt-in-my-core experience.

Glad you had a good turnout in Mt. Angel. If any ex-rock dockers are still around tell them we said hello.

I wish I'd had the foresight to do what some of the farmers did in the dark-path... Charged $150/nite for campers/tenters.

Your description gives me chills. We savored totality in Arthur, Nebraska. I had no comprehension of just what a moving experience it would be. Unbelievably beautiful, serene and exhilarating in a single package.

In 2024 Jackson Center will enjoy nearly four minutes of totality! Hmmmmmm....might be reason to convene!

From my spot in Cookville TN I believe I saw Kips Gulfstream V fly overhead. There were 2X parallel contrails screaming along the path. I waved!

Image from downtown Hopkinsville KY (location of second longest point of totality). Was a spectacular spectacle. Already planning for April 2024. Maybe head way down south to get the 4 plus minutes of totality.

NASA had a couple of modified B-57s racing along at 51K feet shooting photos...Perhaps that's what you saw.

I think a Eclipse 2024 Rally in Jacksonville Center is a great idea. 6 years to plan.

Purdue Mom,

I think I'm going to call Airstream and suggest your suggestion.

The Alumaclipse Rally of 2024.

One last photo. Sifted through over 1500 shots to find this photo of the 100 percent blackout from the total Solar Eclipse. The camera was not pointed skyward, but out to the south facing horizon.

I camped at the Blake Ranch in Tryon, NE (two and a half minutes of totallty), 25 bucks, one night. They had about 60 campers. I don't know if they considered it financially worth their while, though I think they enjoyed hosting the visitors (they even invited me to stay for a steak dinner Monday night).
