You mean it doesn't have one already? Things do seem awfully dim right now…

I have not checked this entire thread for this method of viewing the eclipse, I found this one interesting http://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/make-sun-funnel

I did not want to go nutZ with buying new gear so I Macgyvered something from junk in the house. The rugrats broken telescope, the shroud from a clamp on lamp, my photo tripod, some vellum paper and electrical tape.
The NASA version gets a larger image, but for zero dollars invested, I will settle for a 1" view, and I dont care if...
"The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"
If it does, I will settle for a 60-70% view in my back yard

Still trying to decide if the backyard and 98% is good enough...99% from the AS's door or a short drive N on the back roads to get 100% will be the ticket.

Interesting, locally the souvie's are in abundance. The beer, well I'm a lager guy and it was way over priced but couldn't resist. Starry Night 2.0 at $0.29. I remember seeing the VG exhibit in SF, CA in the later 50's when our 3rd grade teacher took us on a school trip so I grew and still have the post card, now framed on the wall. Seems appropriate.

Happy viewing

Oh my gosh! The total solar eclipse in Sweetwater, TN was absolutely stunnning! Words simply cannot describe the sensation of seeing this in person.

The partial eclipse in New Orleans was a non-event. Too much cloud cover.

Worked out great in (N of) Eugene. Took some back roads to get closer to Corvallis w/ total coverage vs just 98%. Also not much traffic or at least gridlock as projected.

Loved it!

65% was just fine in upstate NY, occasional light clouds, but a perfect view.
And, no drive home needed

No surprise there. The amount of chaos predicted for a 90-minute eclipse event was greater than what we typically see on the Gulf Coast for a major hurricane evacuation!

Tampa had 81%.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky, it was good. I could tell it got a little darker, but the temperature felt the best. Not much radiant heat from the Sun. The shadows all looked scalloped.
I got to use my ellipse glasses! Very cool.
I did lean up against something because looking almost straight up while wearing black lenses, I felt like I'd tip over. No references.
I called friends in Greenville, (where I had an invite but stayed home) and they were stoked! They had set up a telescope with a projection card to monitor the progress, and now they're cooking the "after eclipse" barbecue. They said the Cicada's started chirping.

Would like to have seen the total eclipse.

Here in the NE, I took a long nap.

It is now getting brighter outside.

Please resume normal activities!

Certainly over-hyped! Truly amazing that people would pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for such an event. I don't get it. But then again, many of my friends and relatives say the same thing about me for paying so much for an aluminum tube

Enjoyed it. The photos don't really do it justice. The little bright spot near the antenna is the sun at totality. Second one is with a better camera.

Folks I didn't know what to expect but I was floored. I was standin in a lake in the middle of Shawnee Forest all by myself but I could hear cheers and music in the distance and I really don't know what to say, it was much more powerful than I thought it would be. I was shakin when total darkness came. There were clouds in the sky but it opened right up over the lake during totality. There was thunder in the distance. Birds sang. The lake turned black under my feet and the reflection of the sun's corona rippled in the black water. It was really something!
