Yep, we're planning to stop somewhere along the highway in the central U.S. Depending on weather conditions we'll drive NW or SE from somewhere near Nashville - hoping to find a suitable viewing area.

We'll be with my husband's family in Dubois, WY to watch the eclipse together. We'll be in Yellowstone the week before. I imagine they'll have a full house for the event

I was unable to sign up for this rally last year, but some openings became available and I got a spot just this week, so I guess I will be seeing the eclipse too!

I hope to have the new 26' by then, and friends have a home near Greenville, SC. with a vacant lot next door. They promise me power and I'm going!

have a great time on your trip and take pictures. It will be quite a change from the tent trailer. We are hoping to stay at some friends field near Salem Oregon.

I found a small CG on Barkley Lake in western KY. It had 3 sites available. I walked up to talk to the wife and son about going, they weren't interested. (drive all that way for 2.5 minutes?) I checked with my brother and he jumped at the chance. I went back to the reservation site (like 5 minutes later) all 3 sites were gone.

I checked a lot of other places and finally found 1 site on the Cumberland river in TN, west of Nashville, south of Centerville. they had 1 site left. Makes me wonder what's wrong with it. But it was only $22 for 2 nights with my Senior Pass, so what's to lose?)

Everyplace else that I could find was booked for that Monday. I used Reserve America so there might be some small CGs available. Our site is a short walk to the Cumberland river, we might be able to do some bank fishing.

We had a partial eclipse in Louisville a number of years ago, back in the 90s. I've never experienced a full eclipse, this should be interesting.

The NASA interactive map has been moved to the following web site:

https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/sites/d...map/index.html

It's surprising how much of the eclipse will be viewable across the entire United States and parts of Canada. Yes, you'll see a total eclipse if you are within the band shown on the map. To varying degrees you'll likely see a partial eclipse no matter where you are in North America.

I want to "see" as much of the eclipse as possible. Be sure to watch the eclipse through proper glasses. If you're a welder you may already have #14 lenses and apparently that's suitable for viewing. For others you can purchase inexpensive "glasses" online or in local education shops and bookstores. Be sure to look for ISO certified products - there are a limited number of brands that are ISO certified for viewing.

What I found in past eclipses; is that if you do not have access to the filters to look directly, look instead away. If you find pinhole lights, such as the sun shining through a trees boughs, you see thousands of tiny eclipse shadows through the full series.

So I have my reservations at the KOA at Mt Pleasant; Charleston SC. Ping me anyone who may be at the "final stop" of the eclipse path in the Continental USA, and let's mini-rally! (Or at least toast the eclipse)

We'll be on Casper Mountain just outside Casper, WY. Made our reservations in December 2016.
