Toaster oven

That weber baby Q post got me thinking about small appliances,my wife and I use a toaster oven at home all the time , but most use a lot of watts. I found one at www.outpost.com by Maxi-matic called the elite for around 20 bucks ,its all metal and uses only 470 watts. Darrell

I have a really ancient GE that I use sometimes, but only when I have shore power. I find it's really handy for little jobs where you don't need to waste the propane in preheating the oven. Reheating pizza is an example.

I suppose one could elevate cooking with a toaster oven to an art given enough time, experimentation, and study.

Yes, you can elevate Toaster Oven cooking. We purchased a $50.00 toaster oven at Wal-Mart last year to bake apple pies in. Big enough to do most of our baking and roasting chores. We use it when we have shore power (which is about 40% of the time when we camp).

We’ve been looking for a very compact toaster oven until we saw cheap one in Wal Mart for less than $12. At that price and at 110 V AC, it was good enough and it fits in the overhead cabinet. However I don’t know about 12 V DC units, don’t know if they make such a beast. But the laws of physics and electrical circuits (I = E/R) & (P = IE), would mean that it would draw a lot of current just to toast bread.
In Boy Scouts we made toast over an open fire. Remember- -its all just camping.
