Thread format suggestion

Hey Webmaster/mods, under the thread title we show thread/thread starter; could we also show date started?

Other forums do show this and I find it helpful when scrolling through lists of posts. It is easier/quicker than opening up the thread to view the original post, also prevents you (me!) from making irrelevant comments to outdated topics!

Hi Bill -- I've just spent a bit of time looking at some other forums and don't see this feature right off. Availability of this feature in software is unknown but we could ask. Do you have any URLs of sample sites that you mention?

It is an option. You are referring to the portal page view? The down side is that it takes up an extra line so the list on the portal page of newest discussions is shortened,

True. I wouldn't want to see fewer threads on the portal page. Bill may be talking more about the forums pages and search pages if he's asking for start date info where we show the thread starter.

Comments on outdated threads? Yes, it is surprising what will draw a post -- and often tangential at that. Would the above prevent it? Some but not many if I were to guess.

Don't see how this would affect the number of threads/page?
Just a little date right next to thread/thread starter...

Anyway, not a big deal, just find it convenient...

The trick here is that we also want to see the latest post info and so have to go to a second line (as in earlier example) to get it all in. I agree it's useful to view - we'll take a look at it. BTY - thanks for the link to woddalls.. good info there.
