Yup
The Carolinas are an interesting place, we have mountains AND sea coast, with just about everything in between. Best part is they are all with in a day's drive or less of each other. Definitely different from the Midwest where you can drive all day and only see corn. FWIW I lived in Huron, SD for a while back in the early 60's...my parents made me! Don't miss the winters at all.

Ice Everywhere
Here in Georgia, I wished I had saved my old ice skates, snow shoes or at least my old golf shoes with metal spikes! I have been caring for a friend's dogs, across the street, while she is in Hawaii. It is very difficult since we are on a hill and everything is coated with solid ice. The dogs legs are going every which way, when I let them out. It is hilarious to watch, but I don't want them to get hurt. There is no end in sight either. My husband even tried a blow torch on the icey driveway!!

it is a bit sad that in GA we are so unprepared for clearing the roads. It looks like it could be Friday before schools reopen if then.

Alan, good to see you still have the screens on. As a kid from Texas, I 'member the awe I felt at my granddad's in Clarion, PA, staring at the big stack of storms leaning inside his shed.

Boxers or briefs? Depends... Looks like I agree with rebelstand.
Last year had some pretty sharp cold hit all but the Rio Grande & Key West. We had our share of last minute threads from Austin, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama & north Florida asking how much winterizing they should do in a hurry.

We've had 28 to 32 degrees the last four or five nights here in sunny central California, and rain expected today and tonight. At least it warms up a little when it rains.
I also used the bucket -method to winterize. Some day I will have to put all of that plumbing back in!

I remember a thread 4-5 years ago from a guy doing halloween-ish camping in the High Sierra. He had a cell signal; so was able to post... it began snowing close to dark and then he heard the forecast for the morning dipping down to 5 or 10 above. He couldn't move readily and was a bit frantic.
There's less margin for error with older units with copper pipes. But running the furnace should provide a lot of protection if one can be close by.

It just missed us this time. We got rain all day, but 150 miles west there was snow. It's cold and misuble! But unlike the 12/26 storm, this didn't drop 15 inches on us.
Feel for the ones who got it.

Enjoyed all the pics, but I'm a bit puzzled - what's all that 'white stuff' on top and around those Airstreams ?
Living her on the 'flatlands', I've only read about that 'stuff' in some old journals - I guess I've got to get out more!

It's the crystalline solid form of Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO).
Don't worry, the UN delegates at the Cancun conference on global warming signed petitions to ban it.

Had a movement today
`
Hooked trailer up to move back to the pad in front of my shop so I can resume replacing small items like the whole interior. My grandson is ready to go camping.
I expect he'll be good company just like he is every day.

What was that?
Last weekend we were camping 19 miles south of the Virginia Border at the Kerr Dam Lake NC State Park. I think Virginians call it Buggs Island Lake.
Monday morning as we were to break camp and leave we saw - what? - big wet sloppy snow flakes.
Goodbye winter. What a farewell.

Yes, last Thursday it was 83 here, Saturday I was mowing the lawn, and Monday I was driving to work in the snow... If this keeps up, we'll all be mowing the snow-covered lawn in our tee shirts and shorts...
