This reminds me, I did have something stolen while I was surf fishing in Pensacola. I went to the truck to get something, left all my gear on the beach. When I came back the fish that I had in a bucket was gone -- a Heron was walking away with it in his mouth.

I mentioned this thread to a friend who we camp with often and he commented that he's had his trailer licence plate stolen once while it was beside his house, and another time only the renewal tag was gone and they don't know when it happened but noticed it while camping. I almost never actually look at my trailer licence plate other than once a year to put the renewal tags on. Now I'll add that to my list of things to check now and then.

Tag theft is common around here. They are so common that people place the tag on the trailer only when in use - or keep it in the tow vehicle. Lots of my friends who have boats have had their tag swiped from the trailer while sitting all day at the boat ramp parking lot. You need them to leave Mississippi or other states law enforcement will pull you over - but here - I have never had a issue with no tag on my trailer - even though I own the tag and keep it in my truck. Once I even got stopped at a police road block - they never even mentioned the trailer tag.
