All war memorials probably have some aspect that some people have an issue with, be it an ommission or just a feeling that it could have been done better or differently. And no Mike, I'm not trying to change your feelings at all. What memorials need to remind us of are those brave people that fought, and gave their lives so we can remain free as well as those that fought and came home. All are equally deserving of our thanks and gratitude. What we need to do is remember them all, not only this weekend, but every day. And ensure that the awful, shameful way that many Vietnam veterans were treated when they came back home will never happen again.
Melody, thank-you for the link.
To all veterans and active duty military, my unending thanks.
Chris (Navy vet)
