The Things I Love About Summer..........

I'm no fan of hot weather...But there's something about a Tomato Sandwich that's Umm-Umm Good. Summer just wouldn't be tolerable without them.

Around here we call them Sinkers, they're so juicy that you have to eat them over the sink because all the juice runs down your arms and drips off your elbows

So the question is:

How do you like yours?

Kevin

I like the progressively louder sound of the cicadas in unison. That's so end of the summer, great afternoon on a bicycle or walk or drive on a cool evening.

I was DON of a large nursing home and every summer we would have tomato sandwhich parties. All the staff who had gardens contributed. We would go out that day and buy fresh white bread and Duke's mayo. I would make large pans of squash casserole, everyone who could swallow ate. You could hear a pin drop!I prefer the gold or yellow tomatoes because it doesn't take long for me to get sores from the high acidic ones but its a great pleasure savoring that first tomato of the season!

I'm still partial to early and late summer here: Nights we get a light freeze for an hour or so in the morning; days are plenty warm. Perfect!
