Nicole Ritchie was on Jay Leno last night, and when Jay asked her about her trip cross country in the "trailer", her main complaint was that the bed wasn't real, and that the air conditioning never worked. Chances are, she tried to turn it on without the trailer being hooked to shore power. She didn't seem too bright.

For those interested, tonight is the season finale of the show. Some of the previews showed them dragging the trailer at too high of a speed over major dirt roads with ruts. I cringed watching that. I'm sure it needs new axles by now!

Season finale

I only saw the last half of the last show, but what I saw, I liked.
The scenery was nice on the cattle drive. And there were some nice
shots of their rig on the move, set to an Airstream song. At the very end
a steer that they bought to save from slaughter, poked Paris in the
gut. Apparently , Paris doesn't like to be poked..........Who knew?
I kinda got the impression that they didn't know that the dinette
turned into a bed.
Hey Summer, "The Bimboes" would be a great name for a band.

The Simple Life, Hilton Style

Your right, the Airstream should have gotten more air time. Thats the only reason I tuned in this season, to see the Airstream. The show is funny, stupid, funny . I give them credit for picking an Airstream. Next season no airstream, change the channel

JD

But I love those blue lights underneath theirs. Trying to figure out how to do that to our A/S.

This thing will eventually be on eBay... twice:

The first time for $75,000. Own the "gently used" celebrity trailer seen in Simple Life 2: Simple and Simplerer!

The second time will be after Fox realizes that this thing is completely destroyed from being dragged around by two airheads, and that everyone darn well knows it.

Used Hiltonstream. $4,500, no reserve.

3rd, actually. There are two different homemade porn videos, one shot in night vision and the other not.

Everyone knows when you have that much money you can fund multiple Hollywood projects simultaneously, right?

Thanks, Lev.
My commentary is done on those two. Back to Airstreaming!

I'm headed up to Lake Geneva this weekend for the first time in months. I'll check on the ole' Globe Trotter, and see if the plastic is still covering the gaping hole where the AC used to be. Not that it matters - the more standing rainwater there is inside, the softer all that wood cabinetry will be when I go at it with a crobar next spring.

Everyone wants to buy the stuff that makes you a high flying rock star that leaps over suitcases? Well maybe the suitcase thing wouldn't work now. Problem is these (P&N) are amoung the least likable humans not on a wanted list. Everyone wants to be liked in general and no marketing project wants to be associated with losers. I am disapppointed that AS would neglect the history of being a class produce and go for this level of marketing. What's next, Jerry Springer. I guess someone likes the "hollywood" lunches. Remember, even those who watch trash TV get a vote.
Disclaimer: I am not promoting “The Simple Life” as a quality show for children. The very fact that I just wrote that is why kids like the show and the things on the show.

I would like to offer a "reframe" of the show and its potential impact on Airstream.

I guess I see things quite differently. I have read a couple threads in this forum about getting younger, new members to join and stay in WBCCI, etc. There is certainly a lot of discussion about how WBCCI is focused on the folks that are retired and able to spend weeks on rallies and caravans, and less focused on the weekenders. Point being, there are many folks looking at “back-filling” with new buyers. I for one sure hope there is high demand for Airstreams when I upgrade or change A/S’s.

Well here is an attempt by Airstream to change the "cool" factor for the youth. How many of you watched it? We certainly did. Not for P&N, although we did laugh out loud at some of the clearly staged antics. Kimber and I aren't young (in our eyes) and we realize that the show is a ruse at best. But that, to me, is the beauty of having an A/S on that show.

Why do kids, especially teens, like something? Because their parents don't. Why do parents buy something? Because their kids like it. What parent is going to say no to a child that actually wants to go camping and spend time with them in an Airstream? You can just imagine the RV shopping trips: Parents want to do things together as a family and decide to look at RVs trailers. Imagine the reaction of the parents when the child is involved and excited, and (by the way) wanting to look at Airstreams specifically because they see an A/S as “cool”. What middle-school-aged kid, right now, wouldn’t think it was “way cool” to have an Airstream like P&Ns sitting in their drive for all of their friends to see.

For a living example: Kimber works with women whose kids want to see ours and want us to go camping with them. I doubt that many kids have ever wanted to go camping with 30-something DINKS (dual income no kids), because they own a Jayco (insert brand name here).

Let’s take that a step further. There are a fair number of current owners that are so because someone in their family has owned one in the past, or in my case, my parents wanted one and talked about it forever. These folks have come back to Airstream, so there certainly is a hope that there will also be a future payoff as these children grow up and are looking to take their kids camping.

I can understand the feeling of "Class" associated with Airstream, and I don't perceive it as damaged at all. The A/S was a secondary character in this show, not the show. Dealers, as recently as last weekend, continue to use the phrase “Airstreams have the highest quality manufacturing of any trailer/RV out there.” Did I mention that this dealership had 7 trailers, one RV, and one Westfalia that were A/S out of well over 75 RVs/Trailers, so they certainly didn’t give me the perception of being biased in the least.

I don’t have any visions of being all-knowing. In fact, I love this forum because I don’t know everything. Thank you all for having a part in that. I just wanted to pose a different way of looking at the same event.

The worst reality show ever!

I couldn't believe that the show had a second shot. I've read bad books that were more entertaining. I hated to hear people around here say that the little rich girls were giving up so much, HOGWASH! They are getting paid for that show and it is big bucks too.
What filthy rich person is going to give up their time without making money?

The show itself is senseless, You get to see these gals go into a restaurant and hit this one guy up for like 11 bucks. RIGHT! I'm sure I would dish out some bucks that easy Or they beg money at a toll booth. I could see that if we ever tried doing that, my vehicle would be impounded and I would be in the Police Station.

Too much bull hockey in that show, I'd much rather watch old re-runs of The Andy Taylor Show, probably the best show ever on TV.

I wish the TV Exec's would get their head out of the toliet long enough to come up with some really good TV for a change!

LOL!!! Very clever. I presume her main character will be a single woman, her deep introspective observations always having been ignored, so she sets out across the country towing a Bambi to look for love in all the wrong places? I'll wait for the paperback.

Thumbs up Cool Factor

The other day when I was bringing the Bambi home from storage to ready it for the Co Vac rally, I was stopped at a stop light when I see a Jeep Wrangler full of teenagers pull up beside the trailer. In the front were two guys and in the back two gals. The guy in the passenger side was eyeing the Bambi up one side and down the other and point it out to his friends. They were all smiles. It was kind of like the way kids look at Vettes and think someday....

Now maybe the kid had a thing for aluminum, but I am more than willing to bet that they had watched Simple Life and the cool factor for Airstream had taken a notch upwards in thier minds.

I agree that anything Airstream does to catch the imagination of the younger generation is a good thing, even when the "vehicle" (ie Simple Life) may seem very juvenile.
