Airstream, many years ago, indeed had a "life time warranty" BUT, it was on a limited number of things, never a complete warranty.

We can all thank the "legal systems" for it's demise.

I wonder how the air conditioning is working the that cab? A little wheel slip on that strong pull.

Forgive me if this was previously covered. I admit to not having read the entire thread.

Airlines Before Deregulation

Flying! What a treat. In 1968 when I began flying, the experience was awash in service. Shiny-faced employees in spotless, snappy sharp uniforms provided a level of one-on-one service that would challenge the imagination of anyone flying today who is under 40 years old. I had some airline employee friends in the 70s. Hostesses (when they were still called stewardesses) and pilots. They adored their jobs, which were well-paying, adventurous, glamorous careers.

Flight leaves at 9am? Great! Show up at 8:30, have an orange juice at the frequent flyer club room, and stroll onto the craft to be utterly spoiled for the next 4 hours. Have a problem? No problem - see any well-dressed, attentive, intelligent, motivated, helpful employee and they would move heaven and earth to make the customer happy.

The airplanes were spotless clean. No, the food wasn't great by gourmet standards, but is was edible and plentiful and served with panache and pride. People cared about their job, their company, their customers.

I won't ruin a nice memory by even typing out the current conditions for comparison.

Yup, sure was different - didnít seem like we were crammed together in too-small seats like we are now.... but Iíll tell you one thing I donít miss at all - smoking! Who ever thought that creating a ďsmoking sectionĒ in a flying tube was a good idea?!

Corvair

No wonder I fell in love. I used to see her tooling around in her fancy 65 Corvair.

Sexy 65 Corvair TV Commercial - YouTube

Where did those good old 60's days go????????????????????????

We could go out and find work and be completely independent on high school graduation, buy a new car, and have it paid for before it needed new paint.

How about showing us some of the cars you owned in the 60's.
Maybe it will spur some bright ideas for todays life.

Integrity, Airstream, 5th Wheel

Nobody wants to talk cars so we will try trailers!

WHAT ARE THE DESIGNERS DOING TODAY. ARE THEY ALL SPACED OUT???

What we need back is the AIRSTREAM INTEGRITY 5TH WHEEL TRAILER.

These quality built 5th wheelers provided huge storage, combined with large comfortable living on a grand scale. They were as easy to maintain by the back yard mechanic as any recreation trailer, and could be towed with the family or business pickup truck that then could be fully utilized for other duties when not RVing by removing four pins and the 5th wheel assembly.

These are what I would call destination RV's. You have a lot or a place to go to set up for the summer and then return it to the back yard for winter storage. (no cottage to worry about when you are not there.)

If these trailers were produced by AIRSTREAM today and sold with an optional customized flare kit to streamline air flow from the tow to the trailer, they would be an instant hit with F250/350/450, Dodge RAM and GMC diesel owners.
(Flare kit includes polisher aluminium grill guard, side steps, box rails, f/g air foil integrated with cab extenders to facilitate smooth air flow past the cab to trailer connection and a roll up bed cover that could be utilized when the RV is not attached.)

Now you don't need a toad behind your motor home, as you just disconnect and go with that quad cab RAM 3500.

What we need back is the AIRSTREAM INTEGRITY 5TH WHEEL TRAILER.

Yikes!!!!! Have you seen the upward trend in gas/diesel prices? People are trapped in trailer parks out West because they cannot afford the fuel to move those White Elephant 5th wheel Mammoths! All because they thought they needed all this space to enjoy there retirement or vacation days. They soon came to the realization that smaller is better. They have since downsized to 16 ft. Bambi trailers and sub-compact TV's! Now one of them sleeps on their tiny bed and one stays up at night tossing and turning in the dinette seats.

Sweet home Alabama!!! How can you beat that? Home on the road doesn't mean 2 stories with a basement! What we need is 25 cent a gallon gas! I wouldn't want the leaded version back but cheaper YEAH! Oh and the false gas company claims that production sites/refineries shut down for "maintenance" causes the jump in prices at the pump is ludicrous! It is just another huge scam to grab as much profit as they can get before we all protest so much that we stop filling our tanks and quit driving as much because of their insanity.! So 5th Wheels.... I personally think is one thing we don't need back! I'm just Sayin' Ed

Your only considered lucky if she does the sewer dump while you restock the fridge with cool ones.

Funny you say this. We were at an RV show over the weekend and were saying if we ever went permanent we'd go with a fifth wheel. I wondered about restoring an Integrity.
