"The Mentalist" (CBS, Monday nights) - Patrick's FBI-demands list includes Airstream

Did anyone see "The Mentalist" last night (12/08/13)? I think the second item on Patrick Jane's list of FBI demands was an Airstream.

I wonder if Thor paid for product placement on this series, and we will be seeing some aluminum in future episodes?

I caught that too…….

Many shows and movies have trailers for the actors to hang out in anyway.
Some actors bring their own. Maybe, " Patrick Jane " has an Airstream there already.

You can tell from the end credits. Everyone who pays promotional fees to have their products featured is listed in the end credits, usually somewhere close to the end of the crawl, shortly before the copyright info.

Hi folks, I'm new here. I'm a huge fan of The Mentalist and I was wondering if you Airstream experts would help me out? The Airstream model that Patrick Jane requested in the episode mentioned above is LVB-70H. Is that a real trailer? If so, is it new or vintage? Any information you could give me would be helpful.

Thanks a bunch. Nice trailers, BTW. Wish I had one.

I saw that one.

Love The Mentalist.

I hope Patrick gets his Airstream.....he's getting other things on his list of demands. Last episode, he got his couch.

Tonight's episode (01/12/14): "You want an Airstream? Those are for old, retired couples."

Uh-oh, that description fits us...

I suspect that with Patrick Jane's laid-back approach to life, he'll be looking for a vintage Airstream. Consider the fact that he drove a Citroen DS-19 (alternately, could have been a DS-21) during his "tenure" with the "CBI."

I looove his car! I have always wanted a Citröen DS, either the Pallas or the Cabrio (convertible) but it just never worked out. They dissolve like an Alka-Seltzer if you drive them in the winter here, so California is the only place for them, IMHO.

CitröenVie has some marvellous photos.

Yes, OK, sure. But I would say watch his earlier series, "The Guardian" (it's on NetFlix) and tell me which you think is better...

I once rode in a "C" many years ago. It had "air shocks" and after starting the car, pressure had to build in the lines to elevate the care on its shocks for driving…..this required a half minute or so….it this the same car?

Ps…one of my Army buddies commented that the "C" was not a "get-away" car for a bank robbery!

Several of the upper Citroen models had hydro-pneumatic springs rather than steel and very long travel suspension linkages (A arms) along with low spring rates. This allowed the cars to do several things:
  • Variable Ride Height - Low for highway speeds, and high for rough roads that were common in post WWII Europe.
  • Smooth Ride on rough roads - the long travel suspension with the low spring rates did not transfer nearly as many of the bumps to the vehicle and passengers.
  • Poor cornering and evasive maneuvering capabilities.
  • Delay in the pump-up cycle upon starting the car, as you mention. Also, the power to weight ratio of the Citroens was low, so that limited the car's potential as a get-away vehicle, too!

The ID19, DS19 and DS21 models all had pneumatic suspension. That means that they have one large 'accumulator' in the engine compartment with plumbing to all four wheels.

One we haven't mentioned is the SM model. Spaceship looks, incredible interior, and a Maserati engine and drive. This model answered the question of power with its V6 motor. It also rides like it is on rails quite literally. This one I have driven on a few occasions as my wife's cousin once owned one. Some very hi-tech features, such as headlights that turned as the steering wheel did (pointed at where you were going), and variable assist power steering, whose effect reduced as speed increased.

An incredible car, but we're waay off-topic. Can't wait to see if Patrick moves into that AS!

Airstreams are getting a big boost on television shows and commercials these days. In a short conversation with Airstream Inc, they are not always contacted for 'permission', but of course we all like to see our aluminum front & center!

I was just looking at hints regarding future episodes and it appears that the title of episode 14 of season 6 will be "Grey Water." I'm wondering if this title alludes to Patrick's acquisition of an Airstream abode.
