Rivet Thank You Bob!...

What a great find!
I'm so amazed to find that Clinton Twiss and his Wife were also interested in taking a vacation!

This was also inherent In my folks decision, as my Dad hadn't taken a vacation in some twenty years before we went on our journey out to California!

Thanks again Bob!

And, do not forget that our Mom and Dad added two more after we had moved into our first home [ without wheeles ] out in LA.

This next photo was taken in Utah, outside of Salt Lake City, when we took a short break to stretch our legs.

Rivet Extra Extra, Read All About It...

Forgive me, for talking about Christmas, this time of year! However, it's coming!

Just in the nick of time, before spending our second Christmas out there in LA. , we were very blessed with two more feet, and a brand new Sister!!

May I add another antique photo?

Were we all very blessed?... I sure think so!

Smile New Photo?...

We left Stoneham, Ma. on June 2 1952 and our 34 day trek across the country ended on the evening of July 6, 1952 when we pulled into the Airport Trailer Village in Westchester, CA, a suburb west of Los Angeles. There was a warm welcome party at Aunt Betty and Uncle Mark's house in Westchester.

This next photo was taken late in the afternoon on July 6, 1952.

Thumbs up Celebrating Our Dad...

Our 34 day trek brought us through 19 States, and Washington DC.

Oh, and us children got to see and enjoy so many wonderful sights along our way!
The following photo helps to show this.
Also, something I would like to share with you about our Dad.

Back in the mid 30's, our Dad drove truck for a living. Notice the scar on his right wrist!
He had been behind another truck out on the highway, when very suddenly, a rock that got lodged between the dual wheels on said truck, flew out and came through the driver,s windshield of the truck Dad was driving!
How should I say this!
Let me just say that God was with Dad that day!... And we are soooo very fortunate!

Needless to say, the story about The Magic Carpet, may never have happened!
With Love

Hi angeline,

I understand some of the confusion that
I have brought to this thread, however if you will go to it's beginning, [ here; http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...iss-45149.html ], and read it through, it will go a long long way to help you out...

Most of the photos that I have posted here were taken by Life Magazine photographer's, back in 19 and 52!

I hope this helps.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've been working my way through the posts from the beginning - fascinating stuff! I was just wondering about that one last photo you shared.

Best,
A

Smile Just Trying To Clear Up Some Confusion...

Most of the photos that I have posted here in this thread were in an album that Life Magazine presented to my Family back in 19 and 53.
They followed us on our journey and through each State, we'd get to meet new Life photographer's.

Life Magazine presented us with an album that contained many published and unpublished photos of our trek west. Most by them, and some by us.
The Photo below was just inside of the front cover of this album.

Now, I know that they were in the buisness of selling Magazines back then, but I took exeption of one of their phrases in the story, if I will!
And I will quote them [ "The Magic Carpet That Was Not Too Magic" ]. Read this; LIFE - Google Books

All is good, this day!

Rivet S'more, Rascal Flats...

Back in Stoneham Ma. , before we left for California, there were many things going on in preparation for the trip west.

The custom built Magic Carpet, was ordered and bought brand new, however the 12' luggage trailer that we bought used, had a bent axle that got by inspection in the above preparation!

Now, during our journey, [ 4,376 miles in 34 days ] this luggage trailer had 19 flat tires! Talk about putting a hitch in your get along!

Well, it helped to get some of our belongings out to LA, and when we unloaded them there, as it turned out all and all, things could have been worse.
