The Flu

The weather is gorgeous here 70 highs last few days and sunny, and we are in the house with the flu (yuck) many of you had the flu this year? Would be great to get out and work on the airstream (but) just makes me sicker thinking about it.

We've had about 4 people die in Minnesota this year, including a very healthy firefighter. Did you not get a shot?

The first and last time I had a flu shot 3 years ago I had a reaction and decided I better not take it again. This all started out with my son (8) so now it is making it around the household. They closed school for 2 days, 2 weeks ago for the flu, we had all been okay now we have it.

Becky- Yuk!
Here in lower New England we have had a terrible winter, no snow! It was spring like right through November and then finally mid January it got cold. Had a dusting or two with no accumilations and one 4" messy storm. Perhaps some snow this evening. Many of my friends have fallen to the flu but Sandi and I [knock on aluminum] are still walking and talking. Feel better soon!

Beck,

It sounds like you had a systemic reaction. Those can happen the first time you get the shot. It might be a one time thing. Did you discuss with your doctor?

Becky

Lousy getting the flu. So far this season neither Donna nor I have had it. We both get the flu shots religiously and although some years we still get a bit of it we don't seem to get it nearly as bad nor for as long as our friends.

It seems that many of our friends who do not get the flu shots end up with the flu and it lasts for weeks on end. So on beautiful days like today when we are out and about in the yard they are recuperating.

Good luck getting through it. So far we are hearing that if you don't get the coughing component it can be beat in a few days with solid rest and lots of warm fluids. With the coughing component included it takes quite a bit longer.

Barry
