Mine was yellow like this, but had the black vinyl roof. It had the back rap around seat which was cool too..

Very nice Rambler you had there Jason.

I had this while at SFU. The Firebird was a 1/2 year model introduced late in the model year after the Camero.
326ci/auto bought new in Courtenay in 1967. I had to move it out when we got married.

I had the dorkiest car in college—a '56 Mercury Custom. It was green, white and green and may have been a little less dorky because it was a hardtop convertible, that uniquely self contradicting body style of the '50's.
It had been my mother's car, but she didn't want to drive anywhere, so she gave it to me. It was slow and terrible in snow. It did have a back seat (though the front seat was roomier) for the kind of activities that American cars were so useful for. And it was a car!
So for what I was most interested in, the dorky Mercury was just as good as a souped up Rambler or a Firebird.

My car in high school and first two years of college looked just like this.
When you're cool, your car doesn't have to be.

Judging by your avatar, not much has changed. Is that the same car?

This is a picture of my first car. 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie, black w/red interior, chrome fender skirts. Maybe not the coolest, but it was fast, and had a spacious back seat that was there when I needed it.

Cool, the George Jetson mobile.
Actually, I always thought one of those would be a lot of fun with a 401 stuffed in.
Last Christmas in western Arkansas, I saw a dark green Pacer that looked brand new. Must have been in somebody's grandmother's garage.
My high school car was a two door '56 Chevy 210, power pac, Hurst shifter for the 3-speed. Dad bought it in 1958 (prior to my brother's addition of the Hurst)

A car in high school? You couldn't get a driver's license in NYC until you were 18, and the first year in college we weren't allowed cars. I extended my dorky car streak through college and the next year bought a '62 or '63 (looked the same) Volvo 544. It was even dorkier looking, but I could do 4 wheel drifts in it. If I'd done that with the Mercury, the wheels would have fallen off.
I had learned on an automatic and when I picked up the Volvo it was snowing and I learned how to drive a stick very, very fast—snow will cause that.
I think it is well know the dorks in high school and college go on to success and become super cool and the cool kids in high school and college become dorks. The athletes keep eating a lot and get soft.
A guy I knew in college, surely classified as a super dork, bought a Rambler because the seats went down and that worked a lot better than either the front or back seat for recreational purposes.
In 1966, I ended my dork streak with a new red Triumph TR4A with independent rear suspension (that was an option then).

Gene, are you sure cars had been invented when you were in high school?
