I used to work in Corporate Television, and back in the days when we had graphic artists doing our illustrations and title cards (yes, the 80's, before character generators), one of the guys had a sign at his desk:
"Profreder Wantd. Aply Within."

In 1922 Otto Messmer introduced the world to Felix the Cat. He used his primitive IPAD to rough in and then people who could draw good (later dubbed graphic artist) would make the cartoons. Otto could think of it one day and it would appear on TV the next.
Otto and Gene used to get a few beers after work. The stories he could tell about the Flappers.

I'm guessing it was an iPad, with paper for a screen and a pencil for a stylus.

"Lame Duck"
Hi, now nobody start arguing with me because this is a true story that, for some reason, just popped into my head last night; I worked with a guy who's sister owned a Mallard Motorhome. She bought some decals for putting a name on it. She named her Mallard Motorhome "The Lame Duck" and it was kind of fitting. I personally thought that this was a Lame idea. Has anyone else heard of any other Lame ideas used on RV's?

Of course. But this is the Argue Thread, after all, and I figured Etch-a-Sketch was funnier. At least for those of us old enough to remember them.
Except for those (who will remain unnamed out of courtesy) who are too old to even remember pencil and paper, and long for the good old days of charcoal on animal skins.

Here is the argue thread mode:
I don't think Etch-a-Sketch is the least bit funny. In fact I have an excellent sense of humor and didn't even get it.*

Platform shoes, Leisure suits. I'm convinced that some of the fashion and design of the 70's were a direct reflection of a very hung over and over drugged nation from the 60's. Shag carpet. Shag haircut, Ford Pinto, Chevy Vega, talk about LAME.
Lets keep this little list going. Bob you got me started with the Lame' jumpsuits.
Adios,
Dan

Ken, when you are in the "right" frame of mind the Etch a Sketch can be very interesting and amusing

It is not possible for me to be in the right frame of mind. I am left handed.
I despise the 70's. Every time the subject comes up someone drags out a picture of me with a perm and fu manchu moustache.

Ken, a day spent with me, without the kids, regardless of or because of your left minded thinking and I could have you on the gaucho twisting the knobs with a blissful, bloodshot eyed look on your face.
I never had a perm but did have hair halfway down my back and a full beard for about two years. The 70's were certianly interesting.......not
Shine it on Brotha,

I sure hope this unfamiliar expression - twisting the knobs- has to do with drugs and not sex.

Yes Ken, It was a test phrase to see where your mind would take it. We know now where your thought process is centered. Drugs and Sex. I'm not so sure I want you sitting on my gaucho. Didn't you grow up in Renton or White Center? That would explain a lot.....

Hey, I grew up in the posh suburb of Normandy Park with all the other spoiled rich brats. I started my job with the FAA in 1971. I'm sure a lot of people are still alive today, because I've never had much interest in drugs in the 70's. Sex is another matter. I read the other day, that the average male spends 16 hours a day thinking about sex. The other 8, he is dreaming about it.

Ken, Wow you're pretty old. Normandy Park is still nice down on the water. I think thats where the original "Saltys" seafood restaurant is. This whole area has gotten crowded. It seems like half of California has moved up here in the last 20 years. Buildable land is scarce, zoning is extremely restrictive and real estate is still relatively expensive when making a comparison with other areas of the country. If I could pry my wife out of here I'd be gone in a shot. Was it really Normandy Park? Lots of people say Normandy Park when they mean Burien.......
Oh well, times up, back to thinking about sex.
Adios,
Dan
