Uhm....how to break this to you.....

You may THINK you're giving up arguing....but uhm..... [emoji3]

Congratulations!!! You'll have even better arguments now - and making up afterward is much better with one's spouse than with fellow Air Forums mates (at least that's so in my experience - go ahead, argue with me on that!).

That joke is so old my father told it to me almost 70 years ago. He said he heard it when he was a kid and his parents owned a store that among other things sold tobacco. Kids would come in and ask if they had Prince Albert in the can. When the answer was "yes", they'd say "let him out" and run outside laughing. That was about a century ago when kids could buy tobacco.

When a thread has aged, it tends to be the same 5 or 10 people posting and no one else pays attention anymore. Has the time come? Argue please.

Time to shut down the electrowazoo for tonight....

Food for thought:
If a man states that he would run into a burning building or a school to save children.......is he already a hero?
Cheers

The Argue Thread

You can talk the talk all you want. It only counts when you walk the walk....

I’ve been privileged to know a few real heros. I don’t count myself among them...others may disagree with my evaluation.

Real heroes always deny they are heroes. The real heroes say "anyone would have done it". "Anyone" is not everybody. Only the narcissists among us claim to be what they are not.

No one really knows what they would do when an emergency occurs. I hope I would have the courage and strength (strength is an issue when you get old) to save someone, but I have not had that tested. I'd like to think I'd give my life to save my wife, but, fortunately, I have not had to find out and hope that day never comes. I don't think I'd try to disarm someone with an assault weapon with my Swiss Army knife, but maybe some thing else would work—a distraction, helping others find an escape route, for example—and that would require calm, deliberate but fast thought. Being calm in such a situation is pretty hard to do or predict. I do know when someone really big tried to attack me about 40 years ago, I remained calm while I knocked him off balance when he tried to slug me and then left really quickly—it was the smartest thing to do and I did it instinctively, but I have no idea if I would be as calm in another situation.

Been enjoying the peace and quite here away from the tire pressure, best hitch, and best TV threads. Thanks everyone, just wish they were as disciplined as this thread is.

Disciplined? I don't think so. Boring, perhaps. Insane, hopefully. Sexy, please.

Time for some fresh blood here IMO!

This 2014 classic from Monty Python in Post #779 bears repeating!

I beg your pardon! It is as fresh as old bread warmed up in the oven.

PS — It isn’t blood either, but no one quibbled about that!
