I used to do a version of this......just to embarrass our kids.

Flip Flops with screaming white socks, pulled all the way up the calf for effect.. Couple that with a skin tight tee-shirt and shorts, and they'll disavow any knowledge of that "old fart over there".

Jim, ever in search of new fashion trends......

I agree with topsiders and no show or ankle high socks-
Birkenstocks are my favorite shoes, though.

you guys are all out of date.

The best solution is Keen Sandals. They come in many styles and uses.

Even some of the knock offs are good foot wear.

Ken

PS they have back up straps

You mean for hippies who want to pretend to be cowboys. Cowboys wear boots to protect their feet while in the saddle, and cowboy boots are designed specifically to fit a saddle better than they fit the feet, because a real cowboy never walks when he can ride a horse. Hippies wear sandals to let their stinky feet waft their aroma far and wide. This hermaphrodite footwear allows the stink to spread, but doesn't protect the feet.

While we're on the subject of hippies, and for those old enough to remember them but who still have enough brain cells TO remember them… "Hippie" must have been short for "Hypocrite." Who else would lambast the establishment but still use electric guitars powered by an establishment power company? Woodstock wasn't an acoustic gig.

I don't remember a lot, but THAT doesn't look at all like the stage at Woodstock.
And the genesis of the work hippie is not hypocrite.
You obviously weren't there or a part of the movement.

No, I was raised as a cowboy in southwest Oklahoma. I could saddle and ride a horse long before I could ride a bike without training wheels. My first-ever paying job, in violation of child labor laws, was herding cattle in and out of an auction ring at the local stockyards at the ripe old age of six in 1964.

I had no interest in hippies and never even met one— until I finally met a few "leftover" hippies that never got over the sixties, after I moved to New Orleans in the eighties.

As a resident of the greater SF bay area back in '62 all that happened 50 miles away as shown on the evening news.
My take on where "hippy" came from, a term used after the beatniks of the early 60's roaming the coffee shops in north beach. A group (still hip more organic) that dropped out further from the beats relating to clean, tidy, and flat top haircuts (squares)

As someone who lived through the hippie years in SF, and a current resident of the neobohemian hipster haven Sedona, where do you see the aculturated anticulture going from here?
Perhaps evolve into something we would call Fauxhemian?

Fauxhemian is close, all the lectures and meets are advertised with the obligatory prominent face shot to insure some form of authenticity. That white guy with the fatal sweat lodge legacy is trying to get back in good graces. Better served to visit the real medicine persons for historic guidance.
As to living there, I "live" in a box at the UPS store, just to out snob Scottsdale, , ,
My sig. line gives my current location
