The irony of this is recent archeology has found that when the book of Revelations was translated from ancient Hebrew to Greek, that particular page was inadvertently turned upside down. The real number is 999.

Well, I must be living right....Isaac MISSED!!!

And that Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia stuff.........must be the reason I've been feeling sluggish lately

But I guess that some folks really believe that stuff! IIRC, some religious crazies had the state of Colorado (or was it New Mexico) change the number of Route 666 to Rt. 491.

Here is the whole story: U.S. 666: "Beast of a Highway"? - Highway History - FHWA

I wondered why it was RT. 666 one year I traveled on it and then it was Rt. 491 on the return trip.

There used to be a US 666 in the southwest, but the Bush administration changed the number to US 491. Driving on it just isn't the same without demons chasing you down the highway.

Here's the history of 666, formerly a spur of US 66:

Yah, I really miss those goblins chasing me down the road! It used to be my only excuse for exceeding the speed limits.

It is NM. Don't know why exactly it was changed, but it is still referred to as the Devil's Highway. I have been told by locals of skinwalkers chasing cars down the road

Ok cool cars you had in High school. WHO had the coolest.

I'm going to win here:

I had a 1972 AMC Javelin with a 401 cid in it. left any Mustang in the dust, and pretty much anything else at my school.

Mine was yellow like this, but had the black vinyl roof. It had the back rap around seat which was cool too..

I had this while at SFU. The Firebird was a 1/2 year model introduced late in the model year after the Camero.
326ci/auto bought new in Courtenay in 1967. I had to move it out when we got married.

I had the dorkiest car in college—a '56 Mercury Custom. It was green, white and green and may have been a little less dorky because it was a hardtop convertible, that uniquely self contradicting body style of the '50's.

It had been my mother's car, but she didn't want to drive anywhere, so she gave it to me. It was slow and terrible in snow. It did have a back seat (though the front seat was roomier) for the kind of activities that American cars were so useful for. And it was a car!

So for what I was most interested in, the dorky Mercury was just as good as a souped up Rambler or a Firebird.

My car in high school and first two years of college looked just like this.

When you're cool, your car doesn't have to be.

Judging by your avatar, not much has changed. Is that the same car?
