All the James Bond stuff is just high dollar Hollywood psuedo spy techno crap targeting people whose brains are made out of Tapioca pudding. I'll take I-Spy any day.
As Ilia Kurriakin said "your miscellaneous bit of information shall never cease to amaze me".

That's just junk too. The only real spy thriller was Get Smart.

Austin Powers is better than Bond. Who can doubt it with dialog like this?
Austin: Those are skin tight. How do you get into those pants baby?
Felicity Shagwell: You can start by buying me a drink.

OK, but Kuryakin was with U.N.C.L.E. I Spy was a different bunch.
I am also going on the record for Get Smart, 99, Sunbeam Tiger, Cone of Silence...what more do you need?
Maybe the Avengers, Ms. Peel and a Bentley.

Sunbeam Tiger? That was just a bomb with a too big engine, not a sports car. TR4A was better.

Hi, I like the toaster with a Ford V-8 in it. The only good Triumphs had two wheels.

When i was young, my dad wanted a MG TD, but because he had made the oft repeated human mistake of having children, he settled for a 1952 Sunbeam-Talbot 90 Mk II cabriolet.
Sunbeam-Talbot 90 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That and a 1949 Jeep 4WD wagon were the available transportation until later in the 50's when the Jeep was traded in on a 1956 model, and the Sunbeam was traded in on a 1957 Citroen DS-21.

We were not what you would call a conventional transportation family.

Ken, there's been a Jeepster for sale for a very long time just outside of Delta, Colorado. Looks like it may have an extra top. When I was young, back in the 1940's, my father used to point out to me every Jeepster that came along. I knew he wanted one, but he would never actually buy something that was unconventional.
When I bought my first sports car years later, he made fun of it, but it was easy to tell he liked it a lot. I let him drive it once and he was excited until he realized he had forgotten how to shift. I got great joy out of his lurching down the street. He lasted about 2 blocks.
So, every time we drive past the Jeepster, I think about buying it. I never will because I am not quite crazy enough (and my wife is even less crazy despite her choice of husband), but maybe you are. When you buy it (I'll send you directions to it if you want) as a tribute to your father, can I have a ride?

My dad also had a infatuation with the Jeepster. I could never understand it. To me it was a clumsy attempt to make a Jeep appear like a sports car. My dad did end up buying one later in life. It was a 70s vintage Jeepster Commando.

My dream car when I was young was a Porshe RS550 spider.

However, had I ever got my hands on one, I would now probably be sitting in a little desert bar somewhere on Hwy 66 drinking beer with James Dean and maybe Steve McQueen (I think he owned one once also).

don't know much about the E types. I did ride around in LA in one way back in the 70's. Nice looking car.
But I DO have tons of experience with rebuilding Brit motorcycles and presently own two Land Rover Defenders.
Anything with Lucas electrics or Amal carbs ......well.....you better either have money and a good mech, or be very mechanically inclined yourself.
You end up working on them just about as much as you drive them.
Still love a Brit twin, though.

The P1800 was a nice car, but I think my 544 was faster because it was lighter and had the same running gear. Of course the 544 wasn't as pretty. Many years ago I drove a P1800 about 1,000 miles in a strange trip involving many illegal events which the car's owner didn't tell me about right away. Eventually, I flew home to get away. The car was fun to drive though the speedometer didn't work and the car surely wanted to go faster than 55. Last time I saw the car, he had pretty much destroyed what had been a very well preserved car.

When the P-1800 first came out I was 17 and a dyed in the wool European car fan. I took one look at the swept up chrome strips and rear fins and said, "what the heck is that, a small Dodge? However over the years it has grown on me to some extent.

Made a few changes....no up-swept chrome or stainless grill surround.
2000cc built B-18 engine, dual 45DCOE Webers, 175hp, full Koni suspension.
Great little Autocross unit.
