This is not the swingers thread, Knock it off or I will let you meet my wife, The black belt. Who was ranked 4th overall in the US in 1994. And still has all the moves.

Wish I had a doctor like that. Mine wears snakeskin cowboy boots, and has one blue eye, and one brown eye (seriously).

On the other hand, we ain't exactly seen your picture either. The other wife could be trolling the bottom also.

I think they might have just given up on us as a lost cause They have probably only made this thread viewable to us to save the rest of the AS family..

Jason, she looks better in the photo in the other thread than the one that runs in the local newspaper. Maybe she ought to use that one for the ads.

Whoops, I forgot to argue.

OK everyone; I'm going to throw in a new subject for the sake of argument! (sorry to interrupt/intervene on the ongoing current argument). Is or are Black & White colors? Out of the four of us, two "supposedly" mature adults, and two very young adults are split on the subject. One from each age bracket (note how I carefully phrased that) is voting differently. Just thought I'd throw that out there to see what others think!

Terry.

Black is the absence of all colors.
White is the sum of all colors.

Therefor white is a color and black is not a color.

Pretty simple.

That depends if you are speaking of an additive or a subtractive process. Are you talking about the frequency of light striking an object or the light absorbed and reflected by an object?

Being a child of the rainbow generation, black light is my favorite. And, if you are a limey it is spelled Colour.

I will admit that submitting links or other evidence of a case is not in the spirit of this thread. However the below link presents some very good arguments for either side.

Are Black & White Colors?

I'm going out to get some exercise before hurricane Issac veers left and wipes out Colorado.

One way to describe what black and white are is to say that:
White is what we call a mixture of all possible colors in the visible light spectrum, which is more usually explained as being "all the colors of the rainbow". Black is what we call the absence of any possible colors in the visible light spectrum.

Another way to explain black and white is, if any visible light is shone onto an object that is painted pure black, it will reflect none of that light whatsoever and will therefore always appear to have no color itself. That is why it is called black.

If any visible light is shone onto an object that is painted pure white, it will reflect the colors of any such light which may shine on it and will appear to have the colors of that light itself. If such light is pure red, the object will appear to be pure red in color, if such light is pure yellow, the object will appear to be pure yellow in color, etc. If the light shining on the object is what we call white, because it has all the colors of the rainbow in it, the object will appear to be white in color.

Another interesting fact is that we can only see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photo-receptors in your eyes, to animals without cones, the rainbow doesn't exist. So you don't just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering all the beautiful colors you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The perception of the quality of color is essentially a physiolgical, optical and nuerological process. Therefore there is no way a person can know what the color of an object is, a priori, in actuality. For that matter there is no way we can know if the object actually exists outside of our perception.
