As far as visibility, I can't see Grand Mesa today and the West Elks are shadowy. Sometimes we can't see more than a mile or two, other times we can see 40 miles, but is it vague. Sunsets are very red because of the smoke. At least few or any of the fires are in Colorado now, but the rest of the west is doing badly. We don't smell smoke, so the fires are pretty far. We've smelled smoke when fires were only a couple of hundred miles way, so these must be further.
We hardly even argue anymore. The Forum has been sanitized—no fun, no silliness, no arguing, no nothing.

Big deal, I can't ever see Grand Mesa, and I'm not even sure who the Big Elk is. What's his name?

I don't know how anyone who comes from the northwest thinks they know anything about pizza. Thick is the worst, pan is not proper pizza, and thin crust is the right crust, but in this county, all the pizza is disappointing at best.

Ken, you can't see Grand mesa because you aren't tall enough—at least climb up to the top of the Front Range and look west about 200 miles—and don't forget your smoke-eliminating binoculars (available at fine stores everywhere).
I am not a politician because I do distort facts; politicians distort factoids, opinions, and lie about facts. These distinctions may be too subtle for the cat obsessed. A dog would understand.
I do not take responsibility for anything I have posted lately because of the smoke in the air which causes brain damage.

Ok, time for the arguement.
THIN, THICK, or PAN style pizza crust.

WRONG! Thin is the only real pizza (unless you are in Chicago).

To make pizza anywhere in the country, unfortunately you have to use water from The Northeast. Sal.

I'm changing my mind.....you all have no Idea what you are talking about, Bronx pizza is the best and it's in between thin and thick, And Pan style from Chicago is good for mopping up the mess on the floor, thats about it...

Hi, sorry to break the rules in the Argue thread, but I have to agree with Gene about Pizza. After our trip to Europe and having a real pizza, in Italy, nothing here even comes close to comparing.

OK, I'll give you that on the Bronx pizza. And, I'll say that any Italian food from The Bronx is the best. Sal.

Don't you know the difference between an Exalted Ruler and a Big Elk? But the mountains are the West Elk Range, which, strangely enough, is south of the Elk Range.
What I want to know is why the New York Mountains are west of here and not in New York? And do they have funerals in the Funeral Mountains?
I am still not responsible for my posts and the smoke is getting thicker—the West Elk Range is almost invisible now.

I have spent some time in Italy, and have always wanted to try a true Italian Pizza, but I've looked and looked and have yet to find a Pizza Hut or a Dominoes. What the heck?

For my 8,000th post, I should write something special and very smart, but the smoke just keeps getting thicker, though the colors are very nice. I wonder what we have to eat….

Hi, it will be a long time before they finish the bridge so you might as well take a slow boat.

Hi, I think you might need an European GPS to find those; And you might have to travel a few thousand miles to get there.

Gene you are in luck..
They serve that European style of pizza at the wild fire grill in Cedaredge. The new golf course restaurant. They have a wood fire brick oven for cooking the pizza in. and it's not the american toppings. It's the good stuff, service is hit and miss and the same can be said for the rest of the food. But the pizza is good..

Been there Jason. Don't agree. Passable pizza for Delta Co., but that's not a recommendation.
Have you tried Boston's in Grand Junction?

Hey, thats as close as it comes around here to European pizza around here. But your right it's not saying much..
I haven't tried Boston's yet, is it good..
I still like the flying fork in Paiona.
There is a bronx pizza in Palisade but it's not that good..
Oh we have a new pizza place up here, better than the old pizza to the limit, and dominos and pizza hut, but that isn't saying much either.
RJ's steak house is ok up here but nothing to right home about. But the Chinese Tai place is pretty good. better than the two in Delta...
Simmers in Montrose isn't to bad for a nice restaurant. And the horse fly pub has some interesting brews and the burgers that aren't to bad..
The Western slope just doesn't have that many great restaurants.
No wonder I cook at home so much..
