The AirForumsó and indeed any public forumó are predicated on the idea that all of us are smarter than each of us.

Which is true to the extent that each of us posts questions that all of us eventually can answer, given enough iterations, false starts, and tangents.

But to weigh in on the question at hand, real experts don't argue against each other. They argue against each other's informed opinions. It's only the self-proclaimed experts who make it personal because they don't have informed opinions, only uninformed opinions.

Meaning no offense against any self-proclaimed "self-proclaimed expert." Even a real expert may modestly identify himself as a "self-proclaimed expert" to avoid seeming pretentious.

Protagonist, your retort makes entirely too much sense. I offer this for your and other intellectual disagreers edification. I pose the question which argumentative style presented in the following video do you most identify with?

It seems obvious well educated intellectuals are trying to confuse this thread with sensible and rational statements when all that is needed is to be stupid and disagreeable, i.e, like the comments section of any internet news site.

I am very well educated and do know everything, but as a man of the people, I prefer to be stupid and disagreeable. It is possible my graduate degrees had a expiration date on them (not only do I know everything, but I am modest). I find as I age, it is easier to be both stupid and disagreeable and I am glad seniors get some slack on being jerks. Certainly ad hominem attacks are a good part of this (an example, Pro is an engineer, a per se indictment of something). Also blaming misspellings on spell checker is the mark of a demented senior.

I may also add, space aliens landed in my neighborhood recently and if you don't believe that, your muffler bearings are broken and you need to take your truck to a garage immediately. To conclude, I am not crazy and you are. So there!

This is such good therapy. After all Medicare does not pay much for therapy and the Forum is a wonderful place to confess our greatness. I wish the Forum would allow me to thank myself since I must need it.

I agree with that! Do you want to argue about it?

This is Where I have to disagree with you. I Graduated from high school well below my potential, went to a local JC, some how made it into a college, flunked out, went to back to the local JC. There after taking a few more classes was told by a counselor, take this one more class and you will earn an AA in Liberal Arts, so I did. And very few people, since I was of a young age, have not associated me with being a Know-it-all.

My wife a while ago ran into an acquaintance of my young manhood, who asked her, "Is he still a know-it-all?"

In addition, spellchecker is a savior not a hindrance.

Thank you,
Matti Smith

Lunatic,

ROFL, loved that show as a child and still do. Not sure if I can say as an adult, but at least can say still after all these decades.
