the 2005 favorite post of the year.... peoples choice awards!!

hello all

as we wind down 2005, chill the bubbly stuff and stock up on black eyed peas........how about a new thread!

i searched the archives for any previous threads on this topic and found none.....

so, i'd like to suggest we all offer up our

<<<<<<<<<<<<favorite post or thread for 2005>>>>>>>>>>>>.

suggested rules for fair play in this sandbox........

1. if a 'favorite post' it must be dated 2005....duh.

2. if a 'favorite thread' it need not have started in 05 but the majority of replys/post should be from 2005.

3. having trouble offering just one? ok, how about we are each allowed....2. these can be 2 posts, 2 threads, or 1 of each.

4. provide a link or "quote" and briefly tell us 'why' you like this post/thread so much.

5. the favorite post shouldn't be your own.

6. a favorite thread might include some posts of your own.

7. avoid the temptation to include the worst/least favorites in this thread......
put them in any of the wbcci threads.....just not here.

8. these are the only rules.....since my edit feature expires.......now.

now........ how to select a 'favorite'......

-maybe some post/thread was really helpful for you.
-perhaps some post or thread influenced a buying decision.
-did you learn lots from a specific post/thread?
-by chance did you meet someone interesting/special as a result of a p/t?
-was some significant part/item for your airstream found as a result of a p/t?
-get you have a great time or big belly laugh from reading some specific p/t?
-have you attended some great rally as a result of a specific p/t?
-did some post include a picture that left you.......speechless?
-did someones post/thread save you a load of cash?

having trouble remembering your favorite?
-check the feedback you have left for others, or received,
-check your tracked threads or
-messages exchanged on the forums
-check your buddy list

there are many other reasons for selecting and offering up your favorite post or thread......ITS YOUR CHOICE......and please share them with us.

i've intentionally not used the word 'best' and suggest we think in terms of favorite, keep it fun, avoid attacking other folks' favorite and so on....

but its ok to say "oh yea, i really liked that one too"

maybe this thread can stay active for the next week, as we approach 2006.

i'm really interested in reading what threads folks really liked and why....aren't you?

also i wonder if the moderators have/can compile data on which posts or threads recieved the most karma/feedback for the year.............

it'd be neat if one of the mods could give us this tidbit of fun info.......just as the year ends......

like maybe the top 10 karmatic threads/posts for the year!!!!!!

so now, back to THIS THREAD.......

"my favorite post / thread for 2005 is..........................................."

cheers
2air'

Thats easy.

A favorite for many, many members and viewers must surely be Uwes A 63 for me! with 479 posts and 17540 viewings the last time I looked.

Whenever I see this thread from California pop up I go to its last page immediately.

The fascination is to see how well documented Uwes remodel is, complete with lots of photos, opinions, blow-by-blow reportage and helpful advice to and from Uwe.

Its a hands down winner in my opinion.

No Question
It's a 63 for me (Uwe)! I too look forward to new posts to visit the secret area 63 site. This site has been more then Uwe's progress on a wonderful build, but many others have benefited from his experience, I know I have. Uwe, keep up the good work!

Ditto. The work UWE is doing on that '63 is beautiful. Hey, Uwe, I'm gonna steal some of your cabinet ideas!

Thumbs up Nice thread topic---too many choices...

Oh man, I thought all the hard decisions were done now that the holiday shopping blitz is over hereabouts. Uh that's like picking a favorite food in New Orleans too many choices... Well its easier than that sudoku puzzlebook I got for Christhanukwanzaa, so I'm game! This forum has too many great posts and threads, how about a top 40? Ok well since Uwe's has been mentioned--that's a fave too. As a classic 28' owner, I'd like to mention John Irwin's (Pahaska's) classic 28 thread--it has great customizing tips, and I love seeing all the great photos. Now if I just could get myself a talent transfusion to implement all that stuff!
Funniest/favorite post? Oh that's torture--too hard, I'm picking up the sudoku thing again...where's my coffee?

My vote also goes to Uwe's "A '63 for Me." Even before it was nominated by others, as I was reading the initial thread starter, I was thinking this. I know Uwe is having fun and he's sharing his adventures for everyone else through photos, diagrams and words. Alot of folks are chiming in with comments, ideas and advise. His trailer is sort of a Uwe/Forum trailer. Not to diminish Uwe's hard work and/or ingenuity by any means.

Great thread!!

Louscrew Lives!

For me the farovite thread was the Metro-Detroit Otisville Forum Rally Thread here. Specifically, it was at that point in time after the rally when we all changed our avatar pictures to be some form of the organizer Lou Patterson's face. Whenever, I'd check a "new post notification" for that thread and see all of those pictures, I'd just about roll on the floor laughing my you know what off. It was even great that ths phenomenon spawned another thread about "hacked avatars" as others tried to come to grips with what happened in Otisville. I can only say "you had to be there" to understand. But alas, eventually sanity prevailed and we all went back to our normally scheduled avatars.

Favorite post

Ok, so Uwe had my favorite thread for the year. If I could be allowed to revise and extend my remarks, I would like to nominate every comment Norby posted this year as my favorite "post" of the year. I offer the following from the current "What did your Airstream get for Cristmas" thread as a shining example of a "Norbyism" as only he could put it.

" i am going to get 2 new tire protectors that blew away in the last blowjob in elkhorn....they are probably somewhere in rock county.

Now, where did I put my Norby-to-English dictionary......

In the "Do you know this person?" thread, Norby teaches us the tune to the old T.V. show Bonanza:

"dun-da-da-dun-da-da-dun-da-da-dun-da-da-DA-DA....dun-da-da-dun-da-da-dun-da-da-dun-da-da-da-da"

And in the "A Politically Correct Christmas" thread, Norby wishes us a Merry Christmas (I think), Norby style:

"God Jul och Gott Nytt Ar!..."

Keep it up Norby, we NEED the laughs!

While I agree with the choice for Uwe's thread, I also like Juel's "Men Can't Know" thread.

I hope no one missed Rog0525's responses in "Do You Know This Person?".

I will add my voice for Uwe's thread. I think it touches so many points that anyone doing a full or partial rebuild should spend some time reading it.

Another great and informational thread is the "Finally Got Started" but I think this one spans last year as well.

Ok, I'll go counter and vote for the Metro-Detroit forum rally thread too, if only because I contributed!
