I wish he were( Rubber Viper), My son took the pictures about noon, he was near the house then swam the pool in and out of the skimmer and then into the bushes. I have assigned my son the job of identifying him. We have a canal about a 100 yards from the house so he could be a Water moccasin, I am sure someone here will come up with something. I have more pictures but how many do you need.

A close up, or higher resolution, with the coloring. Also, need to see the head a little better. Doesn't look like a moccasin. Can you post pic #1 in full resolution?

Water moccasins are very dark and travel by moving side ways. They also have diamond shape heads. All your poisonous snakes have flat wide diamond shape heads. Atleast that was what I was always been told, I cannot see the colors to well but I can see the pattern on the snake. It looks like water snake.

Very wierd. We just arrived at our cabin and our neighbor had seen in their yard a cottonmouth. Sort of looks like that to me.

But my position is simple with all snakes - less is more.

You obviously don't use enough chlorine.

I don't use any it is a salt water pool, well the cell makes the chlorine so maybe I should kick the power up a notch. I guess he got out so fast because the the salt water didn't agree with him. Dose make a good case to keep your water clear.

I am thinking corn snake.

This is true of pit vipers, of which rattlesnakes belong. This is not true of all poisonous snakes. For instance, the coral snake has a quite blunt, rounded nose, but is very poisonous.

We had a 4' California Kingsnake we caught at the house here a couple years ago. We kept it in a terrarium for about a year as a pet and it became very tame...almost sweet!
