Superstitions/What's yours
Superstition-An irrational fear of mysterious or unknown things.
Seems like a lot of folks have them.Walking under a ladder,a black cat crossing your path,a bird flying into a window,a certain number(which my karma count is currently at )and the reason I thought about this topic.
Are some superstitions regional? What's yours?

Very superstitious--Oops better knock on wood!
Knock on wood so you don't tempt fate, make a wish when you see an all white horse, bring in a pail of coal at midnight new years eve so there's enough fuel for winter, and put up a horse shoe over the door (use a good nail please ) new years eve to have luck.

An octopus comes to mind-if you know what I mean. A lot of sports stars and fans have superstitions too.

My Grand-dad absolutely would not leave the farm on Friday the 13th. Is having black-eyed peas on New Years just a Southern thing? We always do.

superstitions
I was born on Friday the 13th and have had plenty of black cats. I personally do not believe in superstitions. (nor do I suffer from triskadekaphobia

What about a bird flying into a window, also. I've never heard that one before.

Tin Sista & Jim -- Yes to the horseshoe over the door (one of my granddad's) and yes to black-eyed peas on New Years. Texas Caviar makes it all too easy! Steph, no fair writing that down unless you share back ...
I am far from the most reverent person in the world but our public radio is broadcasting live the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols from Kings College, Cambridge, on Sunday morning from 9:00-10:30. Imagine the English countryside at Christmas Eve's sunset to have a sense of the setting. Check your local schedules. It always puts me in a sublime groove. The volume will be really cranked up as I knead my hazelnut-dried cherry hearth bread ...

How about braking a mirror and the seven years bad luck...or opening an umbrella inside....
I've had way too many birds hit my windows...like to know what that's about also. I have to put sun catchers in them in hopes they will avert a most certain disaster... I have saved quite a few though, that's gotta be some kind of good karma

My Superstition is a mountain just east of the Phoenix area! Have you heard the story of the Lost Ducthman's Gold? It was also where H.I.'s trailer was parked in the movie Raising Arizona.....

Salt and Pepper
I don't have any that I am aware of. However, my Mom had some:
No elephants (figurines, pictures, etc.) in the house - don't know why
Spill salt or pepper toss a bit over your shoulder to prevent bad luck
Position of baby in womb (high - boy, low - girl or vice versa)
No walking on a grave in a cemetary
More but I think that is enuff!

I Owned a Green and Silver 2001 Triumph Bonneville. But it was from England even though I am not. I kept it for one season and sold it. Thankfully I am still here to debunk this one...
