Summer meteor showers descend

here is a reason to look up if your outside on an august evening.


"The best meteor display of the summer comes during the second week of August, during the Perseid event. At its peak around the nights of Aug. 11 and 12, the shower can produce 50 to 100 fast, bright meteors per hour for any observer with a wide-open view of a dark sky."

Thanks for the reminder! One of my favorite places to watch this dazzling display through the years has been along the north shore of Lake Superior where I'll be again this year August 11-14. I can already feel the marvel of nestling back in my beach chair on that cobble beach at Grand Marais with a comforter pulled up to my neck against the night chill and watching the star show! Can't wait to head Up North again

It's always a good idea to cover your Airstream during these events, lest you get "meteor dents" in the roof. Or at least put on a fresh coat of Walbernize.
