We were going to head south today, but after looking at the NOAA map, whiskey and coffee sounds good to me.

Highway 101 is a demolishion derby... Standing in our showroom facing the freeway looks like an episode of something we would watch on "Spike" tv. People are not very bright..

I think money could be made selling grandstand seats along some of our freeways during first big rainstorm of season... Hard to say people forgot how to drive in rain.. Some may never have learned.. I am positive money could be made selling tickets to watch road warriors if it ever snowed in northern Calif.. Those of us that learned to drive in it back east would lock down our cars and enjoy the show...
Good opportunity to check in a few days and see if any new leaks have developed in the trailer that need a shot of sealant...

I'm down in Manhattan Beach down south of you all (a little south of LAX) and while the clouds are dark and ominous, no rain to speak of yet.. They told us to expect between .75" and 1.5" of rain in the next day or two.

wow;
I was just ready to post something to Mike
Leary about his snowy avatar and he changed it!!
well here goes anyway
Frank Zappa lyrics" watch out where the huskies go, don't you eat that yellow snow"
was Frank a airstreamer? I'm thinking maybe cause that's some good advise he put forth , something to ponder, why did the Greeks invent the wheel anyway?
to get out of the snow I guess,
Is there a Greek God of snow?
The rain god is sure flexin his authority as well as the wind guy.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a nice wet winter and the end of drought worries.

1.25 inches of rain here in San Luis Obispo since midnight. Steady 20+ mph winds with a peak gust of 34 mph earlier this morning. They say the worst is yet to come this evening... could get interesting. But, we need the rain, so bring it on!

I forgot to put out our rain gauge but up here the rain is coming "up" from down in the valley. I think what falls from the clouds here is blown up to Tahoe and we are getting what doesn't touch the ground in Sacramento. I finished stacking and covering this winters firewood a couple of days ago. However, I didn't stack a 2-3 days supply under the overhang outsde the door . The 12' to the wood stack is now a 'river' of mud and leaves. ..... But, Lynn didn't want to miss her weekly Walmart Tuesday shopping. We just blew back in. Boy, the TradeWind sure is glistenig in the rain.

Neil,
Sounds like your getting it up there too..
The glistening of rain is nice as long as it stays on the outside of the TradeWind!

Mike- it's snowing again,,, ha ha
Vinnie-- watching KCRA 3 a few minutes ago. your area has got 3.3" of rain in the last 12 hours. Got your snorkle stuff with you??
it's still blowing 30 steady here and not as much rain as a lot of places only a inch, BUT this is sure gonna ruin the late harvest of the grapes still on the vines. those are the ones for the smooth ports and some good cabs.I'm drinking port as I type.
oh well so it goes, Venus made it outside for 15 minutes, when she came in she gave me a Stewie look (family guy) like what the hell. funny
on edit-- where is that Stormin Norman guy anyway? anyone know? I got the biggest kick from watching him do his reports. Talk about someone charged up about weather!! I think of him as the original weather geek.

The wind slammed the 'portable' garage that's over the convertible into it. Too dark to assess any damage if any but I tied ('garage') it to the Airstream for the night. Film in the morning.

Boy it came down hard last night. Think we got about 3" in Shingle Springs. It was good to find out that our new trailer port can take a big wind storm. Hey Vinnie lets hope if the water comes up enough you can start shoveling the Shrimp in the BBQ.

Hi guys,
The rest of the county is reading this thread laughing at us about a little rain. The problem for us is when the Santa Cruz mountains are dry and burned and then burned this summer and now gets 10" of rain in 24 hours it becomes a big deal. Combine that with 70 mph winds and an earthquake thrown in there for the fun of it.. well, Welcome to California...
The shrimp were spared until the spring...

My daughter and I have been traveling since Sept. in the Northwest. I'm an Airstream wanna be now for about 3 years. This is the first opportunity for me to travel RV style. We borrowed my sister's T@DA to see if we loved this lifestyle, now it's all I want to do but we have to head back to Fredericksburg, Texas this Friday, BUMMER!!!! Anyway, we will be in Eugene, Oregon and wanted to drive down Hwy 101 to see Northern CA on the way home. Is it safe to drive this drive in a 19 ft travel trailer? We have encountered some crazy winds this trip. I just don't want to get blown into the ocean---not good.
Any ideas on where we should cut over from Interstate 5 to 101 and any suggestions on where to stay on 101 and where we should cut over back to the Interstate to head to Texas? Thanks for your help. Hope all of you STAY WARM DRY.

We've been making our way north from LA the last few days, and got slammed at Costanoa north of Santa Cruz the other night. Awfully fun to be rocked to sleep listening to the ocean, though. We were diverted off the 1 once north of Half Moon Bay, but I've gotta say the knuckles have for the most part stayed flesh-colored.
Off to Mendocino this morning, and hoping for more of these now clearer skies!
