Batten down the hatches.. California is seeing our first big storm today. Expecting up to 8" of rain in a 24 hour period in some Northern California area's. Fires and mudslides.. that's us

We were going to head south today, but after looking at the NOAA map, whiskey and coffee sounds good to me.

Highway 101 is a demolishion derby... Standing in our showroom facing the freeway looks like an episode of something we would watch on "Spike" tv. People are not very bright..

Cool

I think money could be made selling grandstand seats along some of our freeways during first big rainstorm of season... Hard to say people forgot how to drive in rain.. Some may never have learned.. I am positive money could be made selling tickets to watch road warriors if it ever snowed in northern Calif.. Those of us that learned to drive in it back east would lock down our cars and enjoy the show...

Good opportunity to check in a few days and see if any new leaks have developed in the trailer that need a shot of sealant...

I'm down in Manhattan Beach down south of you all (a little south of LAX) and while the clouds are dark and ominous, no rain to speak of yet.. They told us to expect between .75" and 1.5" of rain in the next day or two.

No rain here yet, but it's getting darker. Looks like we'll be stuck for a week.

wow;
I was just ready to post something to Mike
Leary about his snowy avatar and he changed it!!

well here goes anyway
Frank Zappa lyrics" watch out where the huskies go, don't you eat that yellow snow"
was Frank a airstreamer? I'm thinking maybe cause that's some good advise he put forth , something to ponder, why did the Greeks invent the wheel anyway?
to get out of the snow I guess,
Is there a Greek God of snow?
The rain god is sure flexin his authority as well as the wind guy.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a nice wet winter and the end of drought worries.

Up here in Redding we have received 1.95 inches since about 11pm last night. Bring it, we need it.

1.25 inches of rain here in San Luis Obispo since midnight. Steady 20+ mph winds with a peak gust of 34 mph earlier this morning. They say the worst is yet to come this evening... could get interesting. But, we need the rain, so bring it on!

I forgot to put out our rain gauge but up here the rain is coming "up" from down in the valley. I think what falls from the clouds here is blown up to Tahoe and we are getting what doesn't touch the ground in Sacramento. I finished stacking and covering this winters firewood a couple of days ago. However, I didn't stack a 2-3 days supply under the overhang outsde the door. The 12' to the wood stack is now a 'river' of mud and leaves. ..... But, Lynn didn't want to miss her weekly Walmart Tuesday shopping. We just blew back in. Boy, the TradeWind sure is glistenig in the rain.

Neil,

Sounds like your getting it up there too..

The glistening of rain is nice as long as it stays on the outside of the TradeWind!
