Some sad news

Forum member GSTEPHENS has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the pancreas.

Gayland is 1vp of our WBCCI unit and has been the sparkplug in putting on the Texas Vintage Rally (now a National Rally). I consider Gayland one of my best friends.

Gayland is at home in Hamilton, TX. He welcomes hearing from his Airstream friends.

I heard about this from a fellow forum member that is very close to Gayland. I left a message with Whitsend to give him our best. He is in our thoughts.

I stop by to visit with Gayland on my way to the Valley. What a great guy. He is not shy about saying how the best friends are his Airstream Pals. I will try see him again this week.

Texas Vintage Rally - San Antonio

Last year Gayland called me and invited Sue and I to join in with the group in San Antonio. By the time we arrived in San Antonio, I felt that Gayland was a good friend. Meeting he and Ella Faye was such a wonderful part of being at the rally.

On the way home Sue and I spent two nights with the Stephens. Our love for them is than that of a kissin cuzin. You aren't just friends with Gayland and Ella Faye, you are family.

We were taken back by the news of Gayland's illness. We pray for him and know that he is in God's hands.

Bless you Gayland, we love you.

As a quick update, Gayland is attacking his cancer with all the strength he has. He is to see the top surgeons in this field at both Baylor Medical in Dallas this week and the famous M. D. Anderson in Houston ASAP. He is at home and doing well. Experiencing pain, but dealing with it. Ella Faye needs and asks for our help, hopes and prayers.

John & I both will try to keep Gayland's much-loved Airstream family informed as things progress.

Jim

Thoughts and prayers from Colorado . . .

Hi Jim:

Thanks for the updates. Please tell Gayland all his Colorado buddies send their best wishes and prayers to him and his family during this rough patch. Gayland, fight like Hell!

Thanks Fred!! I'm pleased to report that Gayland IS fighting his disease like Hell. He saw the specialist surgeon at Baylor Medical in Dallas today and was told "not to worry, he wasn't going anywhere for a while and was in good hands". That's all I know as of now but I'll continue to pass along any updates as they come in.

To lighten things up a bit, Gayland hasn't lost his sense of humor at all. Oprah's Dr. Oz once reported, on the air, that for every "X" number of pounds a man looses, he gains an inch "down there" (Oprah damn near fell off her chair ). Well, Gayland will tell any & all that this is true and offer to prove it if anyone is interested . Nobody is and he then fakes his disappointment. His attitude is great and he & Ella Faye remain strong. If anyone can beat this diagnosis, it's Gayland Stephens.
