Cool So I'm Driving Home from Work...

Loooooooong day at work installing graphics on a clients van... I'm driving 9 miles home on the freeway and an in that zoned out/autopilot state. For some reason, I always seem to notice travel trailers going the other way. I look up and wouldn't you know it, here comes a WHITE airstream. Yep, white Painted down both sides is a 1foot tall General Lee orange stripe. Where the WBICC numbers usually go, the paint was cracking and silver shown through, suprisingly fairly brightly. I'd guess it was a '75 25 footer. Verrrrry......interesting

Sounds like an Airstream that would be hard to miss!

Sounds like an Argosy to me...

"White"
Orange Stripe
Paint flaking off the end steel caps (not any in the example below )
'75-ish

Were you able to see if it had riveted segments on the end caps? If not, it would definately be an Argosy. Did it look like this?

Learn something new every day. Yep, thats it but your picture is in MUCH better shape than the one I saw. What the heck is an Argosy? Still think its ugly...

Argosys were made by Airstream in the mid-late 70s. They were painted versions of the Aluminum ones...they were sometimes made from the same panels as Airstreams, but they sometimes had blemishes that wouldn't be seen once painted. They were also used to "test drive" some options and features that were later incorporated into the Airstream models. Generally they were less expensive than their Airstream cousins. But they usually had state of the art features like wrap around panoramic windows and even a rear-door model before Airstream.

While you may think they are ugly, there is quite a cult-following of them in the Airstream world. Do a search here on the forums and you can read all about them!

Ugly Argosy? Shhh - cover your ears..... they weren't talking my trailer! LOL

Argosys were sort of Airstream "Lite". Mine has aluminum foors - no rot ever, deep wrap windows that folks pay big bucks for on CCD's and weighs only 2400 lbs. Going out to sooth my trailer's ruffled feathers now....

Nice interior Janet. Have you close-ups? I saw your Argosy in Airstream Life but have never seen the inside.

There are some here in my photo area... but not too many - it's a really tiny trailer. There's not very much interior at all.

Ugly!!! That's MY Argosy in those first pictures and I personally don't think I could take a shinny silver trailer now. I think these Argosys are so sexy and you don't have to polish them either.

Nice interior Janet. I love your redo, so sleek and clean and pretty. That is sooo much counter space!

Who owns Vintage Thunder now? Was it sold and bought on E-Bay?
