No sweat solution

Ian there is a GREAT gas station on 301 at route 3. Mapquest or Google it. There is plenty of paving to make your wide looping turns too. If you get a satellite view look for vehicles on 301, especially tractor trailers and you'll have a better appreciation for the scale.

The Station is on the north east corner. Zoom in as far as you can. Both roads are 4 lane at that intersection. It's a BIG Wawa or Sheetz - I don't remember which but it's HUGE. OK? Your fuel port is on the left side of your truck, so go north through the intersection and turn right into the station. Figure on either the first pump IN from 301 or all the way down the row, go left and take the last one OUT on the 17 side. In your place I'd take the last one out... shortest escape route! Swing very wide, turn left but not all the way parallel to the pump (don't want to have to back up to get out.) Plan to stretch the hose to the truck. Fill fast with a credit card. Turn right for the exit onto 17 West, then go to the intersection and go right, back onto 301. This station doesn't have any way around the back, so try to stay to the outside away from the store.

Super conservative way? Carry a 5 gallon gas can. Pull in from 301, turn right and circle to the north edge of the lot. Park. Carry a can to the pump and fill it as many times as it takes to feel comfy about having enough gas to get to the campground - but make sure you can fully empty the can. .... Slide around the outside curve and loop back out to 17. Proceed to the intersection and you're on the way. You MIGHT have enough space to do an "O" turn and go directly out onto 301, but scope it out when you get there. (Mine's only a 25, so I have a LOT less trouble.)

Super super conservative way. Carry two five gallon cans Full (ack!) IN the truck bed anchored firmly. As soon as you're sure you're 11 gallons down find a place to pull over, and empty the cans into the gas tank. That adds 100 miles or more to your range.

Happy trails. Moi

Ian, that's why I really try NOT to give my e-mail out. You'll have to explain more about how a single use works. Never heard of it. Next week we're going to another local rally down that way but a bit too far north for access to Wildwood. We don't spend much time down that way so wouldn't have any recommendations anyway. Hope the weather holds our for you it's really nice along the shore in the fall. Enjoy your visit.

Tangential and a two-to-three star geek reply - but I own a domain, for which I run an email server on my Synology NAS at home. Whenever I need a new internet email requirement, I generate a random user address on the server and use that. So each site, from Amazon to airforums IDS me with a different email.

Six Hours on I-95 N

Thanks Paula - I see that station; Nicely placed in the center of the commute in and back as well!. Btw, assume you mean the sheetz at 301/3 and not 17 as later in the thread....

Although that puts me over the Potomac River bridge rather than the Wilson off the Outer Loop of the beltway.... Meh!

Ha! The Google Maps Streetview car gassed up there... Zoom down and you can follow the track inside the station itself
