Scam from a cold calling Spammer

Perhaps you have heard of this before, but it only just happened to me today, so I thought it might of useful to pass it on.

If you get a call from Online PC making claims about your computer's health, just hang up.

Here are the details: Computer scammers at work - The Sudbury Star - Ontario, CA

If it's to be, it's up to me.

Caller ID generally saves me from this kind of crap, but as an IT professional I think I could have lots of fun convincing them to hang up on me if they caught me in a mischievous time-wasting mood. Of course it wouldn't be constructive at all (except for the time I was preventing the scumbag for searching for someone innocent to call) but I might get a good story to share with my fellow geeks.

I love it!

When I get these marketing or scam calls I just leave the line connected, put the handset down near a radio and walk away.

My business used to get spam faxes from an online office supply store (also a fake store, looking for credit card info). They included a fax form to fax back to them.

After getting several of these (needlessly using up my fax paper and toner), I filled out their fax form with bogus info and taped several of those end-to end and fed it into my fax machine into their 800-fax-number. The machine was still running when I came back in the morning.

This used up all their paper and toner on their end.

I never got another fax from them after that.

Would you rather have a mansion full of money or a trailer full of love?
