Saw new vantage interior @ Pomona rv show

Hi everyone...saw the interior of the new Vantage trailer yesterday at the Pomona RV show. I have to say i really was impressed. I like the separate living room/dining room feel. I wasnt impressed with the bedroom at all. Over all I really liked the trailer and tons of storage! Dont stone me It was a 31ft show price approx 32k I believe and the people were friendly and knowledgeable. I was quite disappointed in how Southwest Coaches set up the Airstream display. Airstream was the only one that I saw the whole day that didnt have any "fair" posters on the trailers.I swear the big sale poster displaying the fair price makes you feel like your getting a deal!! I thought this was odd. They were the same prices Ive seen at the lot. The gentleman said they would negotiate "10% off sticker"..how generous. There was no 28ft on display. I think they had approx 8 trailers incl the 30ft Serenity and few 23's, 25's and 27's and of course the Eddie Bauer. I m not sure how long the show runs but might try to go back and take picts of the Vantage to post.

ps wow lots of trailers & mohos there to see!

I spent a good while talking with the Vantage factory representative. He knew I was a happy Airstream owner and really seemed interested in what I thought of the new Vantage. Over all, I was pretty impressed with the unit, which according to him was the first one they had delivered to a dealer for sale (Mike Thompson RV, a long time, loyal Thor dealer).

This Vantage was a lot nicer than any of the Earthbound's I've seen in build quality. At 35' (ball to bumper) and 6400lbs, it's half the price of a similar EB or Airstream. Steve said the shorter models are coming soon (hoping to have around 10 floor plans in the next 18 months). Seems like a great option for someone wanting the fancy new composite materials and lower price. Vantage is Thor, so this is actually an Airstream sister brand. Earthbound was at the show last year, but I didn't see a single one this year.

I was anxious to see the Vantage but once I looked at it I had some reservations.
There will be several issues to work out. The door hinges are not adequate and they are going to have some serious door fit issues espessially with temperature changes. I don't beleive it uses much in the way of composites from what I saw it used traditonal box RV materials . The interior height gives a nice feel but the trade off is increased air drag. The spare tire will bottom out pretty easily, I am not sure the frame is adequate for that weight with a slide etc. Maybe they are working on all these items already as I am sure the proto was rushed a little, just be careful. Andy, the factory rep used the term "composite materials" when we talked, so I dunno. The one they had been showing before was a prototype, (not sure if anything really changed since then), this unit was the first for sale by a dealer. I'm not in the market for one, so not for or against it.

Rubber roof. Can't get past it. Nothing else makes up for it. A disposable trailer.

The rubber vs fiberglass debate goes round-a-round in the high-end motorhome forums just like the hitches, sway control, tow a this-with-that, goes around here. They have a 20 year warranty, designed to be easily replaced, quiet in the rain and will survive a hail storm is what the rubber guys say... I have no idea.
