peegreen,
I am so sorry to learn of your loss..Wished it had a better outcome for you guys. As so many others have remarked, in principal. I agree, at least you're safe and sound. Thank God for that..
In reading about your experiences in fire fighting, it just brings back what I have said to so many others. When it's catches on fire, it really is wise to just bale out. It a hard loss but, one that can/will be replaced.
ALL of our best wishes in your search for a replacement.
ciao

Peegreen,

I join in with the rest in saying thank God no one was injured. Yes, everything does happen for a reson and you may never know why. You will pick your self up and move on, we did and if we can anyone can. I feel your pain and anguish and send good "he=oughs" your way.

Your new unit will be perfect and will come at the right time, and you will have the fun of setting it up your way. Of course you can never replace the special momentos, but will add new ones to your life. Know there are a lot of us on the forum who care and are here for you and your family.

Marie

Everyone has been so supportive, it's really helped ease the pain. Dakota was fishing around in one of the overhead lockers (where we keep the unit badges, they're melted - Michelle?) but he pulled out Dad's blue beret, perfect. A couple Forums mebers stopped by to: assess the damage, give condolences, add to their wish list of parts they need (have to keep the dog chained to the trailer during the night hours) - only kidding, everyones been quite sincere. Even one individual stopped by, and in a moment of weakness or poor judgement gave me a hug. You should know she's a non hugger, so now I have one of those intangible items that few will ever have. I will treasure this for many campfire stories to be told.

I told Lisa to start calling the campsites where we have reservations and deposits $$$ - lot invested for the rest of the summer and fall camping season. Maybe we could recoup some of it. She ignored me as usual and by 10AM this moring she had put a deposit on a '98 31'. We'll go check it out next weekend and hopefully all will be good and we'll tow her home. It looked like it was getting time to replace the Marathons and maybe new axles anyway. Things are looking up.

Good for Lisa

Lisa...a woman of action! Great that she took charge and got onto finding a replacement airstream. Good luck with it. We don't want to miss seeing you this season.

For someone who didn't even want a trailer..... she should be the poster child for Airstream and the club.

Peegreen, I too would like to add my best wishes to you and your family. I guess if an outsider (non-forum) member saw some of our (forum members) posts you'd swear we were talking about a "person" that just past away. I guess even things can take on a "personality" of sorts (i.e. becomes a part of the family, etc...).

P.S. is "Peegreen" your favorite color or something?

Hi PeeGreen,

No problem. Once I return home from CA next week I'll get your replacement badges done up and mailed out to you guys.

Sorry, screen name just not that exciting as others I've seen. No hidden meaning or agenda here. Always wondering what's behind the names of some of the forums members.

In other news, Lisa started laundering some of the BBQ'd wares, but to no avail the smokiness prevailed, although the clothing and linens appeared clean. Someone suggested adding Pine Sol (lemon scent) and baking soda to the wash water. It's taking the odors right out.

Man-oh-man! Like a bad dream. Sorry PeeGreen.

This is one of my fears as I have spent way too much money and all my free time working on the Spiffy Gem: get it all done and have the Gem totaled or burned.

That said, I had to go out and take another look at my fire extinguisher. It is an ABC type, which will put out trach, wood, paper, liquids, and electrical equipment fires, BUT NOT GAS.

Time to go get a second extinguisher for gas fires.

We really enjoyed seeing you and having dinner. I was hoping you would come in for a few minutes (everyone enjoys showing off their loved ones); but we were on vacation and it was still a workweek for you - didn't want to force the visit. We walked the rail trail for some IC.

So Sad

So sorry for your loss. It sounds as if you are starting the healing process though. That's good!

Doesn't take long to get behind in this forum but, I wanted to express my concern for your situation anyway. Couldn't help but smile when I read by the current end of thread that the recovery team had already swung into action. Way to go Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
