For someone who didn't even want a trailer..... she should be the poster child for Airstream and the club.

Peegreen, I too would like to add my best wishes to you and your family. I guess if an outsider (non-forum) member saw some of our (forum members) posts you'd swear we were talking about a "person" that just past away. I guess even things can take on a "personality" of sorts (i.e. becomes a part of the family, etc...).

P.S. is "Peegreen" your favorite color or something?

Hi PeeGreen,

No problem. Once I return home from CA next week I'll get your replacement badges done up and mailed out to you guys.

Sorry, screen name just not that exciting as others I've seen. No hidden meaning or agenda here. Always wondering what's behind the names of some of the forums members.

In other news, Lisa started laundering some of the BBQ'd wares, but to no avail the smokiness prevailed, although the clothing and linens appeared clean. Someone suggested adding Pine Sol (lemon scent) and baking soda to the wash water. It's taking the odors right out.

Man-oh-man! Like a bad dream. Sorry PeeGreen.

This is one of my fears as I have spent way too much money and all my free time working on the Spiffy Gem: get it all done and have the Gem totaled or burned.

That said, I had to go out and take another look at my fire extinguisher. It is an ABC type, which will put out trach, wood, paper, liquids, and electrical equipment fires, BUT NOT GAS.

Time to go get a second extinguisher for gas fires.

We really enjoyed seeing you and having dinner. I was hoping you would come in for a few minutes (everyone enjoys showing off their loved ones); but we were on vacation and it was still a workweek for you - didn't want to force the visit. We walked the rail trail for some IC.

So Sad

So sorry for your loss. It sounds as if you are starting the healing process though. That's good!

Doesn't take long to get behind in this forum but, I wanted to express my concern for your situation anyway. Couldn't help but smile when I read by the current end of thread that the recovery team had already swung into action. Way to go Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A '98 31 foot would be a big help toward recovery for the family. If you are going to do it you may as well do it in style. Look forward to happy news on that front, and pictures once all is said and done.

Thanks for the explanation. My wife's favorite color is green and I know there are various "shades" of green.

Sorry for asking a simple question. I guess every inquiry is "suspect" (i.e. there most be some sinister motive behind it).

Here goes, some pics

Actually looks worse up close and personal, not to mention the mongolian BBQ stench.

no doubt, it was a sad, sad day . Makes one sad to just see the pics of what once was. We're all glad no one was hurt. In life we sometimes bounce off of walls. It's how we pick ourselves up and go forward, that's important. It won't be long and a replacement will come around.

Thank you for sharing the painful pictures. It helps the rest of us put the whole disaster into context visually. It sure doesn't take long for something beautiful to become someone's worst nightmare.

The next one will be even better. Like others who have posted I too will be adding a couple more fire extinguishers to my rig. Obviously two little ones just aren't enough, and I'll make sure they are placed appropriately. At least from your experience a whole bunch of us will travel safer in the future.

I'm looking forward to seeing your next phase in Airstreaming. The move is painful but the rewards are wonderful.

And all this happened in your driveway where you had access to a water hose, extinguisher, etc... I could only imagine what would have happened if you were out boondocking. I hope you get a new Airstream (or at least new to you) and are able to "hit the road" again soon.
