Saturday I was doing a cooking demonstration in Macon, Ga.
The pig was in the cooker at 250 deg.
My digital thermometer read 108 in the shade at 4pm.
I could not believe it was that hot so I got out a 2nd thermometer
and it confirmed the 108.

Today in Forsyth, under our backyard shade tree, it is reading
102.

This in addition to a severe draught is not a fun summer.

Spent the weeekend at Stephen Foster State Park in N. Fla. Temp was 99-103 each day. Too hot to open the shades or sit out in a lawn chair. Without AC we would have cooked in our airstream.
There is a reason why people with a little sense head north May-Oct for camping.

Hot-hot here in Tucson...but as they say...it's a "dry" heat...usually, that is, but not this time of year...it's our rainy season. Unfortunately we haven't had any real rain since last week so it's in the 100s again...AGAIN. We had 37 straight days of 100+ temps earlier this summer...before the monson season hit. We just finsihed buildng a "Bambi-Port" attached to one side of the house, so the Bambi is under shade now and liking it...makes a 10-15 degree temp difference inside. Glad we got it sheltered finally. I was afraid it was just gonna melt and we'd go out there only to find a puddle of shiny stuff and melted rubber where it used to be. I am also very paranoid about hail, as we get some violent thunder/rain/hail storms here this time of year...now it's protected form that, too...I can sleep better now!

I tried to link from my photo galery by copying the addres from my browser and enclosing it in image tags The path is “http://www.airforums.com/photos/show...&userid=17830”.

I was using an example of photos that klattu had put up using image tags, but now I see the difference. The path he used was “http://www.airforums.com/attachments...DSCF0244.JPG.”

Could you give me some advice for linking to photos in my gallery rather than uploading to the new thread?

Vaughan, seems like the panhandle is getting some of the worst of several seasons this year. In between those times I hope it's just plain beautiful.

Susan, we probably have enough land for some visitors but unfortunately most of it is Airstream unfriendly -- not much level land around here. If you are in the area, however, let me know and we'll find space somewhere.

TB, over 100 for days on end sounds brutal no matter the humidity. I imagine constant wind also, is that true?

Hi again Dianne,

It does have a certain beauty, big sky country. The air is so clear and thin that the stars don’t sparkle at night. Plenty of wind there.

That was a few years ago, though. Now I’m in Arkansas about 30 miles from Susan and Brad. Intermittent breezes. Sometimes dead calm.

107.1 in my yard this afternoon. Don’t know what the humidity is outside, but the dehumidified air inside is 54%. With the Foggers timed on at 10:00 am the max interior temp was 87.1. A true 20-degree difference! Thread to come.

The HOT HUMID weather our Navy corpman son experienced last Wednesday upon arriving in Baltimore felt "Cool and refreshing". He just returned from his deployment in Kuwait on the Iraq border where he reports the base high 2 days before was 145 degrees. But it was a dry heat.
